Help! Plastidip gone wrong!

Just put 4 coats on the rear emblems, waited 30 minutes after the last coat dried and started to pull the excess from around the emblems.

It's coming up fine, but leaving little white spots underneath.

Any thoughts? I'm really worried ill end up ruining the finish on the trim to get the spots off.

Spray some goo gone on a microfiber towel and gently rub it off the surface of your paint. That should do the trick but if it doesn't you can try spraying the goo gone directly on the paint and wiping. Make sure you wash that area thoroughly afterwards. Make sure you do this in the shade/out of direct sunlight.
 
The problem is not on the paint, but the black plastic surrounding the "4runner" logo. Will the goo gone mess up the finish?
 
Did you use white plasti dip? Trying to figure out where the white spots are coming from. Any mild solvent will take the plasti dip off and shouldn't damage the plastic or paint on the vehicle.
 
Used the black plastidip.

I let it sit a while longer and then pulled the rest of the overspray off. I think the spots will come off, I just want to wait until the emblems dry more.

You don't need any solvent to remove the plastidip. It comes off with a little rubbing.

that looks like overspray that didn't initially come off. take a q-tip and try rubbing it out if you can't get your finger on it easily.
 
Did you shake up the can before you started spraying? It just looks like over spray. Use a shop towel or terry cloth and just rub it off.
 
He is talking about the white on the stock black part of the trim piece. If that is where the excess was, and you removed it, it looks like you could have possibly removed the factory black paint on that trim piece along with the excess. The one on the SR5 is chrome as you know, but if your scratch that chrome there is a flat white/off white under it. I know because I damaged mine and replaced it.
 
There is no way the plasti dip damaged the paint, I have sprayer and removed this stuff on a few different vehicles on a few occasions.
 
I washed the entire truck just before doing this. I sprayed the can upside down before using and after each coat to clean out the tip. I also test sprayed before hitting the emblems.

The area in question is not painted. It's the plain black plastic surround on the TE.

That would surprise me if it is true. To the people who have remove it, is it black underneath as well on the TE? I guess Toyota could have just used the same material on the flares for that trim piece as well. Or they could just have coated it black just as they coated it with the chrome. I know I have removed tape from painted surfaces and had flecks removed as well which looks a lot like this, but it could be overspray as well if it contains any flecks of the white it in. Surprise me that only the white would stick though.

The surround on the TE is black plastic. I can attest to this from a gouge I managed to put in mine and it's black plastic all the way through.
 
If it were me, I'd just clean, scuff, clean again, and repaint the entire area - lettering AND the factory black piece.
