Help please!!

If this is in the wrong section I apologize, move if needed. Anyways, just finished installing my new toytec boss kit. 600lb coils up front and bilstein 5125 rear with 890 coils. Install was good. But after finishing install and taking it on a drive the under steer was horrible and it felt off, it was just scary to drive. Any ideas, the two front tires are cambered in a little bit too. There still the 265/75/16 stockers. I'll be getting duratracs 285/75 mounted tomorrow. Please anyone help me out figuring out the issue. I didn't mess anything up on the install I'm pretty sure. I'm stumped and now deeply depressed. Thanks! ( sorry so long )

Well, the obvious answer would be to get an alignment...? Right?

As a fun experiment, go outside and do a 50m sprint.

Now stand on the outside of your feet and do it again.


Yeah, your 4Runner doesn't like that either. =p

Just another sanity check, did you reconnect your panhard in the rear? I forgot that when helping a friend and it felt super weird on the first test drive...
 
You should get 2 alignments done.

The initial, and then a second after about 500 miles as the suspension will 'settle'. This can usually be done within the 'standard' 30 day warranty period given by most places that do alignments...

Sorry, I have to disagree. If you drive the car ONE mile, it should be settled. If anything changes after 500 miles something is WRONG. Won't hurt to "check" things again, never hurts to check your own work.
 
Are you sure you understand what understeer means? If you were experiencing understeer, you were driving entirely too fast for a lifted car/truck....

I agree are you drifting your truck? Or trying to race car drive it. Understeer is lack of front wheel grip. You shouldnt be driving so fast to cause front tires to lose grip. SLOW DOWN!

Correction, sorry I meant to say oversteer! And no I was only doing 20 max in my neighborhood

Will do, just got the tires on which helped the tire angles out quite a bit and driving it feels good, much improved from worn out stock suspension. Alignment will be done tomorrow hopefully and I'll let you know then.
 
having done more than a few lift kits and my own truck, i'll leave you with this. a test drive should settle the suspension. check and make sure everything is TIGHT after 500 miles.

Now I'm assuming you don't understand oversteer. If you did, you would effectively be drifting your truck... I'm not really sure what you're trying to describe here.

Agreed, but if a realignment is under warranty, hence FREE! Then there is no loss.

Also, having a second pair of eyes reevaluating the scene is never a poor choice, and could help to spot something that could go wrong.

The idea is not that the truck would then 'settle' to the ground but that in the course of driving, hitting pot holes, etc. Even the best laid plans can, 'go to pot'....

The suggestion was given to me by a longtime suspension/alignment mechanic. So take it as you will.

Honestly, if it's free, it's worth it....
