Help! RCI skids rubbing

Just installed full set of RCI skids on my trd pro. Definitely some rubbing going on as I can feel more vibration from the steering wheel and actually hear running when staring from a stop. Any recommendations? Would there be any long term damage? Any help would be appreciated. TIA

Where are they rubbing specifically? Do you have any kind of lift installed as it will change the geometry on the front swaybar without a relocation bracket that will cause it to rub on the two support brackets that bolt to a crossmember and your skidplates.

Also any and all pictures would help us help you diagnose your issue.

While many people here have RCI Skids and I personally haven't heard of this problem. I'm sure that we can get this squared away in short order.

It could be that the skids are translating more road noise through the frame. Is everything tightened up good?

Two spots that have been reported to rub, radiator supports and the transfer case on exhaust. The front skid has a little wiggle room for adjustment to avoid contact on supports if that is an issue. If it is the transfer case there is a thread with a quick fix to clamp the connect and tighten up to move exhaust away from skid. Figure out if contact is being made and where as a first step... if it is either, no long term damage but super annoying.

I only hear the rattle noise and feel the vibration when I start driving from a dead stop. Freeway is not an issue. What can be done?

I saw a video on youtube recently about installing RCI aluminum skids on a 5th gen, and the video suggested wrapping the offending pipe with exhaust wrap that can be purchased from a motorcycle shop.

^^^ this will fix it...

suggestion though is to include a a zip tie to retain the clamp if it slips off. Mine kept slipping off.

I eventually re-routed the Y-pipe and was able to raise my skids a bit with no concerns of the crossover pipe hitting.

Another option is spacing the skid down a little, but it will move a little when you smash the skid down on things...

Finally got around to getting this fixed. I used the suggested clamp to lift the exhaust slightly. No more rattling noise or rubbing. Thanks for the help!!

Impeccable timing. My crossover pipe is rubbing my Shrock t-case skid and I was going to shim the skid down a bit this weekend, but will try this instead. Thanks for the link/tip!!

I shimmed mine down away from the pipe with some spacers around 1/4''.

I really wish RCI would provide some spacers for this seeing how it's kind of common.

BTW,, not isolated to RCI. Had the same issue with the exhaust crossover on Bud Builts on my 4th gen. Just used a couple of spacers to lower the transfer skid a bit.
