Help! rear end problem 950 miles from home

I am 950 miles from home on a road trip to surprise my mom on her 80th Birthday today. I was having a vibration / shimmy in the rear end while driving, very noticeable above 70 mph. I took it to a garage last night and they re-balanced the tires and test drove it and said the vibe is still there and that it might be a rear axel bearing or something worse in the diff. I have an appointment for 1st thing Monday morning to have it looked at.
The truck is a 2000 4Runner SR5, 150K miles, 3.4 liter, 5 speed manual.

Any suggestions or if anyone is in the Springfield, Illinois area can help I would appreciate it.

U-joint? If a rear axle bearing is causing an obvious vibration, I can't help but to think you would have a leak past the seals
