Help! Some Jerk punched a hole in my gas tank!

While I was mountain biking someone decided to use what looks like a screw driver to puncture a hole in my tank. I just filled my tank up too!
I have seen some products out there to repair plastic tanks. Do you guys have any experience using plastic gas tank repair kits?

I have never actually looked that close at my tank, but it looks like that is some type of plug in the tank. If so, maybe you can get the plug as a separate item, and replace it.

If that is plastic, I'd have to think some epoxy intended for plastic would seal it right up.

Appears to be a Toyota specific part. Check with a dealer shop.
I'd be very hesitant working on myself, one spark, PHOOF!

Do what kid said, get an epoxy and you'll be all set.

but, i wouldnt mess with repairing it. too risky.
a replacement is the way to go.

Ok, I fixed it today! I figured i better do the job right as a good heat gun with a speed tip that goes up to 575 degrees was going to cost me $100 and i would have had to remove my tank anyways to plastic weld. I replaced my tank with a tank from lkq (oem off a wrecked t4r) $125. I will say, I was really surprised that the inside of my tank was not full of sludge! The fix took just under 2 hours for my dad and I to do. New tank on the right with my original fuel pump installed, second is a shot of the inside of my original tank 78k miles and clean as a whistle!

Wow! A few bucks for a new fuel filter will definitely be worth it. Look at how well the 1st one worked. :bravo:
I mean, as long as the tank's out and access is easy.

Soap

It is not uncommon for idiots to puncture a gas tank since it would be impossible for them to suck it out of the filler,next time carry a bar of soap in case you might need it again just work the bar of soap in the hole and it will hold until you can repair or replace it.maybe it's time to invest in a skid plate for your tank.good job on the replacement.:happens:
