Help turn signal mod

Can anyone dumb this down for me? Never really worked with car electronics besides installing my speakers and head unit.

Well they're saying the turn signals "can only" be seen from the front/back and not the sides or blindspots and they show you how to wire in extra lights (i guess to put those on the sides/blindspots) to compensate. On my 01 maybe the PO already did the mod cuz both the bumper mounted directionals and the parking lights blink!

BUT, I can see 3 gems blinkers from the sides, so not really sure i agree they can't be seen. I don't think Toyo could get away with not meeting DOT lighting regulations. I'd spend my spare time elsewhere....big buck where are you?

I can dumb it down, when the turn signal is not applied, the power for the side marker is going through terminal 87a (the normally closed output of a standard bosch relay) to terminal 30. When the turn signal IS applied, power goes to term 87, the normally open terminal on the Bosch relay. But since his is also energizing terminal 86, and terminal 85 is grounded, current is redirected from terminal 87, so it will blink. Terminal 86 has a capacitor and a 10K Ohm resistor in parallel, so it will stay activated in between the turn signal pulses.

The capacitor is like an electrical reservoir.

The resistor is unnecessary if you read the entire post you'll see why.

If you read the entire post you'll see that this mod doesn't play well with your flashers either, but that may not be your concern.

The "uf" is the capacitor size, it stands for microfarads, so he is using a 10K microfarad capacitor.
