Help Wiring the DRL on Alpharex Nova on a 2020

Hi everyone, new to the forum.
First mod on my 2020 4R TRD Pro (army green) over the weekend was a Switch-Pro 9100, with AlphaRex Nova series headlights. Install went smooth just wanted to shed some light on some info already mentioned in this thread:
1. INJ fuse tap (provided and included by AlphaRex) from headlights DRL harness -- still able to close 2 of the 3 tabs of the fuse box cover. Looks secure enough to me. I didn't modify the cover at all.
2. No lights at all from headlights are on when lights are on 'AUTO' mode and its daytime. The DRL bezel does come on (with side amber) when I set to "PARKING" mode. I did not attempt connecting my DRL harness positive and negative leads to the Switch-Pro 9100

DRL indicates you need to be in DRIVE and not park for the DRL to light up.
Are you looking at it when you are in park?

Not sure why the aftermarket manufacturers haven't figured this out. This is much preferable than the DRLs just being on all the time.

There has to be a way to tap into the line going from the ECU and into the DLR relay. This would probably have to be done under the dash. It would make the installation much more complicated than many people would stomach, so the 3rd party mfgs are taking an easy way out.

That being said, I sure hope that someone braver and more skilled than me can figure it out :). I'd love to put the Novas in my truck, as the OEM lights are horrible. But I don't want "always on" DLR, which is what tapping into the INJ fuse would do. It's silly sitting somewhere in PARK and have the white LEDs blasting.

When vehicle is in drive, no lights are coming from the Nova headlights. The bezel LED will only illuminate when low beams or high beams are on or “parking” lights are switched on.

Update:
Ensure you add an extra 5amp or 10amp fuse into the fuse-tap when tapping into the INJ fuse slot in the fuse box (ie. place existing 10amp fuse from the INJ slot into the fuse-tap and add another 5/10 amp into the second slot of the fuse-tap). My positive and negative wires from the Nova headlight DRL harness is connected directly to the battery. Now the DRL bezel led works and is on when the headlights are in the "off" position or in the "AUTO" position (during daylight)

I also experimented on connecting the DRL harness to a SwitchPro 9100. Sectioned off the fuse-tap from the grey wire of the DRL harness, crimped and heatshrunk the end of the grey wire and connected it to the SwitchPro (I left positive and negative wire connected to the battery). This does allow you to turn on and off the LED bezel light when the headlights are in the "off" or "AUTO position", it will still function however when the low beams are on. I have a 2020 4R and due to the some minor changes in the electrical system, I experienced some hyper-blinking of my turn signals with the DRL harness powered on, only when the low/high beams are on. The hyper-blinking seems to self-correct once I power off the DRL harness with the SwitchPro. AlphaRex is sending me a resistor to add to the turn signals.

Not ideal but should work. 8 bucks on amazon...mini tap

What if you don't care about the DRL feature?? Can these be installed without the DRL wiring?? Does the strip still work other than the DRL?

So according to Alpharex you can combine the Raptor style lights with the red DRL wire and then plug them back in to the 10 amp INJ.

"NELSON MANFebruary 20, 2020
you can tap in together with your LED lights as these are not using a lot of power , most likely around 1-2 amp only."

I'm getting the Magnuson Super charger installed very soon and according to the instructions page the intercooler relay taps into the 10A INJ fuse.
not exactly sure how much the intercooler is going to draw, but I'm also installing the Alpharex Novas. so both are wanting to tap in the same location. Or should I run the raptor and the Nova DRLs inside the cab together?

Looking for a solution too. I bought the Alpha Nova installed everything properly. The first bulb out of the four seem to be flickering when running DRL. Both left and right side inner bulbs are flickering. Eyebrows light up and run fine. The three out bulbs run fine during low beam.

I can’t run my light setting in Auto because I’ll just be driving around with a flickering light during the day.

Anyone have a solution? I have a 2020 AG trd pro. After looking through videos it seems like 2020 fuse box is setup a little different

Same thing here. I recently install the Alpharex Novas on my 2017 4runner, but get the flickering DRL, except only on the right headlight. I've tried all combinations of plugging in the yellow DRL wire (that the alpharex wiring diagram said to leave unplugged), running with an extra fuse in the INJ tap, and all of that with the yellow DRL line not plugged in.

I guess I'll have to go learn more about wiring and how vehicle wiring systems work lol.

Edit: I found this article on Alpharex's website. According to these directions the yellow line is supposed to be plugged into the nearest headlight (driver's side in my case) and the other headlight is supposed to remain unplugged. Someone earlier in this thread suggested adding another fuse to the tap that plugs into the INJ socket. I have also added two fuses to my tap (a 5 and 10 amp fuse), and the problem still exists. Have a call and email into the Alpharex tech support department, I'll be sure to update this thread if I hear anything back from them.

i did this prior to having alpharex and have no issues.
