Help with LED light failure in climate control area 01 4runner

I have a 2001 4Runner Limited. My lights in the climate control area went out a while ago(the left went first and then the right a while after). I had a friend replace the 2 LED bulbs behind the temperature display today. I still do not have any lighting in that area or around the knobs. Is there a fuse that controls that area that may be bad or does anyone have ideas of how to troubleshoot this issue?

I'll have to double check cause Ive got the 2000, but there were four bulbs behind mine- theres a how to thread on here for changing them out.

From what Ive found online- Im guessing our unit is the same- there is four small bulbs in the back of the unit- Ive got the part numbers if you need them theyre really easy to change, but the bulbs are not all the same.

The Dealer gave me 2 different kinds of bulbs unsure of which I needed. I guess I will have to go back behind the dash because the 2 bulbs were changed and there is still no glow!

Is it possible the polarity is wrong? Those are neo-wedge bulbs, so pop 'em out, turn them 180 degrees and reinstall. It's possible you got both wrong at the same time.

I replaced mine a while ago, and while the two leds that light the display have been fine, the two leds that light the knobs/buttons have been flaky. The connection at the board I think is the problem, since they flicker over bumps, and just randomly go on and off. Mostly this happens on the left side (driver side).
