Help with speedometer cable adapter

So my speedo hasn't been working. Did some troubleshooting. Disconnected the cable from trans put it in gear while jacked up and saw the adapter turning. I then rotated the cable by hand and it did not turn on the other end. So then as i was turning the cable again on trans side this piece fell out. I turned the cable by hand again and the other side rotates.

I can only assume it's slipping inside this piece, anyone know if this is a crimped on part that shouldn't come off? Can i find this by itself?

You either need to re-crimp to the cable or just buy a new cable. It might be as easy as just putting the end back on and using a vice grips to clamp it down on the cable it's not a high tension or high torque application so it wouldn't need much.
