Help with Transmission Mount

A friend that I trust and is a very knowledgeable mechanic said I needed to change my transmission mount (he's also been teaching me how to do my own work). I have searched the threads and looked online. I am still confused.

Anyone know exactly what I need? There seems to be two different types of mounts.

Specs: 1996 T4R Limited; 3.4L V6, Automatic Transmission, Electronic Shift 4x4

You want the mount for an automatic transmission.

I believe the toyota part number is:
1237162120

Why does he think you need a new mount. YOU should crawl under there and take a look. Transmission mounts aren't usually needing replacement, and that's why I'm asking. Are you getting excessive shifter movement in the cab?

Excessive shifter movement in the cab, lunging at gear change under hard acceleration, "lunging" (lack of a better word) when shifting between P/R/D as the transmission drops into the selected location.

Based on all of that he suspected a deteriorating transmission mount.

I should mention that at one point my friend opened his own mechanic shop that was very successful, and only left because of a difference of opinion with some of his family (it was a family business). Because of his obvious knowledge (all of which has checked out) and experience in the field I trust his assessment. What I know about being a mechanic would barely fill a thimble, but I am learning, slowly.

Lundging? Keep in mind the lundging isn't necessarily a bad transmission mount. That more describes an issue with the transmision. Mine does that going into 3rd everyday, and it's because my #2 shift solenoid is going out.

By lunging I mean that you can feel when the transmission disconnects and reconnects from power during the shift. This causes the truck to "lunge" forward as power comes back and the torque is reapplied.
This is accompanied by substantial movement in the shift lever inside the truck and occurs at similar severity for all gear changes (all the way up).

The "lunge" when shifting between gear modes (P/R/D) is more of a distinct and fairly substantial physical movement of the entire vehicle once the transmission has moved to that drive mode. This all occurs while the brakes are on enough to hold the truck still if something goes wrong (I was taught to hold the brakes in case the gearbox did not do what it was supposed to). I have never known this to cause forward or reverse movement of my truck. Even when I intentionally only applied enough brake to shift the truck still "lunges" (or shudders; it moves I don't know how to describe it) when the transmission shifts between modes but has not made a noticeable move forward or back.

I do know that there is some movement expected around Park in an automatic transmission. The movement I am trying to describe is not the expected movement around Park. It feels more like the entire truck is adjusting to torque loading, kind of like when you adjust after putting on a heavy pack or picking up something heavy (you know, when you kinda shake yourself after getting a good handle on something heavy, to sort of "adjust" everything)

I had people on this forum criticize my mount replacements, but there is a substantial improvement. I did trans then both motor mounts (part 1236162160), same for both left and right sides I think.
