Picked up my 05 White Sport V8 early last year. Looks like it hasnt been waxed or thoroughly detailed in years. It has the black streaks under the Toyota wording on the back hatch but thats about the extent of what i see. Fast forward to this past weekend. I wash it and notice the next day lots of little rust spots over the back hatch, there are also black smudge looking marks on the doors(they look like the black streaks you will see under the lettering) I decide its time that I give it a go with a clay bar hoping that will remove some of these imperfections. The result is....NOTHING rust spots still there, black smudge marks still there.
So my next step is I decide to test about a quarter of my hatch with rubbing compound applying by hand not with an orbital buffer. The result is that it takes out the rust marks, takes out the black blemishes as well. So now I have one part of my hatch that looks great and one that looks 11 years old. I did cover this section i did with some paste wax.
Now that you have read this far here is my question. Is it safe to use the compound on the rest of the vehicle? My thought was while its cool out and not hot I could run over the car lightly with the compound to get out all the imperfections i can find, and then use the wax past to protect it? Do i have any other options here as the clay bar wasnt removing anything visible(although it was clear it was removing imperfections as it was very smooth where i used it)
