Help!! WS fluid has been put into my 2004 V6 4runner transmission

I did a drain and refill of my transmission fluid this morning (my car just hit 100K). I stupidly told my mechanic to put in WS fluid to fill my transmission. Now I think my 2004 v6 4 speed transmission uses type 4 transmission fluid instead. i had about 4 quarts of fluid swapped.

Is there any harm keeping the WS mixed with the type 4 fluid? Has anyone else did this also? The car seems to be running ok but i am now very worried. A few articles out on the web said this is not supported.

Does it have a dipstick? If it doesn't, then WS is the correct fluid for it.

Yes. it does have a dipstick and this is how my mechanic refill my transmission. After we fill it up, we found the dipstick with the label "Type 4" on it (Oops). After driving the car for 100 miles it seem to be fine. Also, the trans oil is now cherry red as oppose to dark purple before the change.

So i just want to know whether i should do another drain and refill now or let it go for another 30K before doing this.

WS is supposed to retro back with no issues. If it's fine don't worry about it, if it behaves funny get some type IV in it.

I'd leave it. You've only changed out a small percent of the trans fluid, and WS is high quality (and high price). It's supposed to be a bit thinner at cold temps, and the same viscocity at operating temp, which is probably good for your transmission.

Great. i will leave it the way it is. It just cost me a little extra $ for the WS oil and displayed my complete ignorance in this subject in front of my mechanic. As long as it doesn't cost me $$$$$$ to fix the transmission i am fine with it.
