I have a 01 4runner, I bought a few weeks ago.
So I am driving and put the pedal down and there
Is a slight delay like 1-2 seconds. Well I didn't think nothing
Of it. It happened again a few times later, like no throttle
Response at all.
Well today it happened again, but I gave it gas and there
Was nothing there at all, I had to pull off the road and The
check engine light had came on.. I turned it off then on and it
Was fine, for like 20 minutes.. I turned it off then on and it was fine
Again, with the exception the engine lights on again. But it went off
After I another start..
Any ideas ?

What year is your truck, what motor, what transmission, do the RPMs go up but not the speed, or do the RPMs stay the same when you hit the pedal, and lastly what code is the ECU throwing? Autozone will let you use their code scanner for free, so find that out and report back.

2001 sr5 3.4l no idea on the tranny. The rpms didn't se to move at all, when I put it down. I bought a code reader yesterday and now Waiting for the code to come back on.

Code should be stored, it doesn't disappear when the check engine light turns off. Have you tried to pull the code?

I assume you know '01-'02 4Runners are throttle-by-wire. There are a number of codes, but they will end up sending you here if the TBW is the problem:

You don't need one your scanner should tell you the code and the cause of the code

Haha it's an auto, blonde day I guess. I'm new to this sorta thing. I scanned it and it spat out the code p1126 I have googled it and I know if the throttle body gets replaced it solves it half the time. There are reports on it being the tps sensor, so I ordered one. Anyone familiar with this code ?

Not familiar but we have our beloved FSM. 1126 = Magnetic Clutch Circuit Malfunction. Things to test/check out includes: 1) Open or short in magnetic clutch circuit 2)
Magnetic clutch and/or 3)
ECM.

Did you ever get this figured out? I'm having the same problem and cant figure it out for the life of me. I looked at the FSM and it doesn't give steps for testing the ECM. If anyone knows testing steps for a P1126 on an 01 4Runner, please chime in!

Don't focus on the ECM. That's the last listed cause on ALL the codes, and the only test is swap in a new one after all the other possible causes are ruled out. The ECM is rarely at fault. Focus on the other tests to see if it is the clutch, or the wiring.

I've swapped TB's and the problem is still there so I'm certain the TB isn't at fault. I'm trying to test the harness for shorts from the ECM to the clutch circuit and TPS. Its a nightmare trying to chase the wires through the harness and I cant seem to find a diagram that shows where these wires end up at the ECM end.

Well, if it's not the wiring, it's probably going to mean a new clutch/motor unit. There is a test shown here at Step 2:

Alright, shop says the ecm is bad. Only way to test is with a new one. I got a junk yard one, owner says it came in running, bad tranny. I swapped it and now it won't start. Are there any reprogramming steps that need too be done? I have no security, auto, 4x4.

AFAIK, it should be plug and play. The keycode stuff all happens at the Body ECU, not the ECM. Make double sure you got the exact same part number and that all the plugs are well seated. Check plugs and sockets for any damage.

Was the ECM the only thing that was touched between running and not running?

To be honest, I have never done an ECM swap. I have never had one fail. Body ECU's die all the time. Not so the ECM.
