Hercules Terra Trac AT vs Cooper ST

I am going to purchase either a terra trac in a 285/75r16 or cooper ST in 255/85r16.
The 96' has no body lift (ideally don't want one.) but does have the toytec ultimate with spc UCA's. I have not seen either tire in person and would like to hear any concerns per each tire.

Truck is a daily driver, but is heading to central america in 9mths

My vote is for Cooper ST 255/85R16

Less roll resistance, a bit tall than 285/75, durability, etc.

Just wanted to mention that new versions of both these tires are out now.

The Cooper ST is being phased out for the new ST Maxx to take its place. This is a great commercial traction tire that is rugged for hard core use.

The Hercules (affiliated with Cooper) Terra Trac ATII is replacing the old AT. It is best suited for rain, snow, occasional off-road use. It has a 60,000 mile warranty.

In the P265/70-17 size, the Hercules measures 31.2" tall while mounted to a 7.5" wide wheel. Tread is 8.75" wide which makes it very wide for a 265. Weight is 40 lbs exactly. This should be a great tire.

I only have limited use and experience with Cooper. I bought Cooper st maxx tires and have been very impressed with off-road traction, road manners, and how quiet they are for a pretty aggressive all terrain. To top it off they have a thick sidewall which should play a big role if you are planning to go off-road.

running 255/80/17 cooper st maxx and I love them. I don't have a ton of experience with other tires but they get me where I want to go and do great in the snow

I have had 2 sets of the Herc's and now have the Cooper ATP's. Wish I had my Herc's back!
