Hello everyone! My name is Charlie and I have a problem...lol. I bought a 95 4Runner a month ago for 500 bucks. Good deal, right?! Ok, well, it's the SR5 model with the 3.0 V6 3VZE engine. I got the truck for cheap because it had a knock. So, ok, simple fix. I dropped the front differential and the oil pan and put new bearings in. Still had the knock. Then I pulled the intake and valve covers and couldn't find the problem. Finally, I just pulled the heads (which was a headache of it's own). And, I found the problem. After doing research on this site and others, nope, it wasn't the valves...I have a bad piston. #5 piston is rockier than a ship on the high seas. So, I've decided to replace the pistons and rings and have a valve job done on the heads. But I have a few questions: Does anyone know the bore specs for the 3VZE engines? Can I get away with just replacing the pistons? Any tips or advice on this situation? Also, the passenger side output shaft on my front differential is a little sloppy. Is that ok? It doesn't leak or show any severe wear, but I can't seem to find the bearings for it. None of the bearing numbers cross reference. Sorry for writing the book, but I wanted to give some good info. Any help is greatly apreciated, thank you!
