I have the SBE square adapter. Gives me more options compared to the round one. Very well built and great customer service.

I've got a video of using it, but had not yet had time for a write up.

I don't have experience with those, but have read that those put the lift point too far out.

The alternate suggestion was to get a big rubber radiator hose and split it to cover the hi lift tongue and just lift the slider from that.

Seems like a good solution.

I'd rather spend the $ on a jack mate and the safe jack base attachments than the the slider adapter.
 
I just lift directly off the sliders and haven't had an issue yet. If it looks like lifting off the slider isn't safe then I just use my X-Jack instead.

I was wondering about that. I haven't used my Hi-Lift on my 4runner yet, but it has a tendency to lean forward now.
 
Added the video of the SBE adapter in my first post (second post in this thread).

[MENTION=73024]Mick1[/MENTION], it does not extend the carrier arm; actually as you can see in the picture, the carrier arm extends a little beyond the adapter and the upward lip helps keeping it in place (aside from the retention pin).

I don't know who gave you the suggestion on the radiator hose, but that sounds like a recipe for disaster. I would not want to rely on weight and friction to keep my truck from crashing down.

She's my garage kitty.. she gets pissed if she's not allowed to hang out with me when I work in the garage. She inspects the truck inside and out on a regular basis :couch2: If she knew how to ask for the keys she's be out cruising in it!

Can't find a picture...But I made one up with a spare chunk of receiver tube and 1/4" angle that I had. With my tube bumpers and sliders, I didn't feel it was safe using the hi lift on it's own. There was nothing flat enough to position under.

.........wait for it......


Now I always have a place to jack off.


But Seriously, IMO it's a wise investment.

Looks like I'm going to pick up a couple more adapters. I already have a half-round, bumper hook, rim hooks and of course a sand-base.

Time to get the square one, like Okki has, and the V-notch just to give me as many options as possible. You never know what you, or someone else you're with, may encounter and I would rather have the best possible setup for the situation then making do.

Of course everyone has a HiLift repair kit that they keep in their trucks, right?

It's funny that you ask that. My dad bought my Hi-Lift in 1973 and as far as i can remember, they never pushed a repair kit until recently.

I'm just getting the half round one from 04rnr.

Got it yesterday! Shown on my 1973 Hi-lift complete with nail instead of a pin. FWIW, That jack, though I haven't used it on my 4runner has never failed me yet. I used to to pull and clamp also. Thank you 04rnr!
