HID Connections Question

I am investigating HID systems for my 08 4R. I notice some have connections to the truck battery, some dont. Wondering why this is the case? I assume it's to provide the extra current the HIDs require? If that's the case though, how can others pull that current only from the OEM connector?

Thanks,
Bob

Some vehicles can't deliver enough "juice" through the stock lighting harness and the HID kit needs to pull directly from the battery. I wondered the same thing while shopping for an HID kit and was told that our 4Runners didn't need the extra harness. I'm running two DDM kits (lows and fogs) without the battery harnesses and have no problems at all. It may have something to do with the design/quality of the ballast itself... I'm not an electronics guy though.
