Looking for a ECM pinout with wire colors

Since my OBDII port doesn't pass any data out, but can clear the CEL, and my DLC port appears to be miswired (no voltage on B+, but battery voltage on AB) I'm wondering if some previous shade tree mechanic literally got some wires crossed while repairing a harness.

If there's a diagram with all the wire colors for the connections at the ECM, OBDII and DLC ports, and/or just photos of properly wired connectors, I might be able to at least see if there's an obvious mixup.

98 SR5, RWD, auto, ignition has been replaced, though I'm not sure what the donor was. (key is thinner than the door key, with no identifying markings and no PATS)

Worst case, you can always view and download what you need from the official Toyota TIS system... There is a fairly inexpensive 2-day pass you can buy.

This is a clone site of AllData where you can find what you need...

PM me an email and I will send you the '98 EWD manual.

I also have a public Login for Gale ( Chilton ), its a bit more cumbersome to navigate but it is current for newer vehicles. Shoot me a message if you want it, I'm hesitant to post it publicly in fear of it getting taken down.

If you're able to clear codes, then you should be able to read data. All that data travels over K-Line, which is pin #7 of the OBD2 port (white wire). Power should be pin #16 (purple wire), chassis ground on pin #4 (brown wire), and sensor ground on pin #5 (white wire w/ black stripe).

There's probably something wrong with your OBD2 reader if you can clear engine codes but can't read engine data.

I've tried three known good readers of two different brands, and AutoZone and O'Reilly have tried theirs, with the same result. No data on any current PID, no stored codes (even with intentional problems to force a CEL) but clear codes will turn the CEL off.

Guessing if that's not a wiring issue, then it would have to be something wrong with the ECM.

Wow, that’s crazy. My only guess would be bad ECU then, but you never really hear of ECUs just going bad in these things.
