Hid conversion

Hello everybody,

Was wondering is there a company or person on the site that does conversions that use the Lexus bulbs. I would consider buying new headlight assemblies and sending them out to have retrofitted. I really would like to to get the HID performance vs just popping standard bulbs in my existing headlight assemblies.

If so how much do you think this would cost?

I was really thinking of a lift kit, don't really want to loose MPGS but know my vehicle is dirt road ready as is... Next I was thinking of an aftermarket exhaust but read a lot online about people saying it was a waste of money

First things first, what year and engine do you have? Those will be the determining factors for your options for upgrading things.

It's only a waste of money of the exhaust doesn't do what you want it to do. Do you want a new exhaust so you can have an extra 50Hp? Then yes it's a waste of money. Do you want one so a V8 sounds how a V8 should sound? Then it's not a waste of money.

NorthShore, I understand I won't gain much in HP, I was thinking maybe a little hp and maybe 1-2 MPGS. I just wanted a little bit more aggressive sound without a drone...Also I don't have a V8 I have the V6.

I can't really speak to what you'd gain in MPG or HP but logic would dictate if you replace from the headers back, you should see some improvement since the motor isn't working as hard to get the exhaust gases out.

I'd definitely sort through the myriad of exhaust vids on YouTube to see what you like for sound. I've heard a few V6 Tacomas with flowmasters that sounded like a riced-out civic.

Correct, you take out the stock projector assembly (4 screws)

And they give you the mounting brackets to mount your projectors to, and then mount to the stock mounting locations

There's nothing wrong with the plug and play h11 kit that you posted, I used 1 for 3 years, but you said that you didn't want to use the stock projectors. The cutoff on the Morimoto projectors is much better, plus they have the high beam flaps for bi-xenon which is nice as well

Thanks for the info, no I didn't mind using the stock projectors but I thought the only option was a bulb similar to like a "PIAA" bulb. How do you remove the glass and reinstall it?

:heh: I've never heard a toyota sound good with exhaust and I love toyota and aftermarket exhaust. A rice burner is a rice burner I haven't seen a land cruiser, tundra, tacoma, and definitely not a 4runner. It gets my attention but it's because I see the car but the sound doesn't match! jeeps and exhaust don't match IMO either but of course that's just me. I did love the sound of my flowmaster 40 on my silverado though
