it is an H3 bulb. Are you sure the ones you got in your kit are actually H3?

You may need H3C style bulbs,a lot of standard H3 type HID bulbs are longer than regular halogen H3 bulb. Same fitment issues on OEM '99-02 4Runner and Hella MicroDE foglights.

What do the connectors look like? Most H3 HID kits aren't plug 'n play anyway.

I will have to take a pic of the connectors. I didn't even try bulb fitment as the connectors don't line up what so ever. I might order another kit but I need to know exactly what to order.
Anyone ordered a ddm tuning kit for theirs before? I'd like a nicer kit but can't justify the $150 price tag when my $30 ddm kits have always worked.

I also love DDM kits. The problem is they take forever to get. I order my cheapo kits on amazon now. Roughly the same price, much quicker shipping.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. So what did you end up doing?
I might pull the fogs off my parents' GX this weekend and test fit a "short" and "long" H3C bulb into them.

Not worth it...
What started as a wetsand/buff/wax on the stock foglights on my parents' GX470 snowballed into a HID kit install, IMO converting them to HID is a waste. In stock halogen form they weren't very good, with a HID kit it still wasn't much of an improvement. If you want to do HIDs on your GX470, stick to installing them on the low beams, they blow away the HID foglight conversion.
But if anyone still wants to waste their time and money, here are some notes:

- Standard H3 style bulbs sort of fit. The glass end clears fine. The bases are the issue. The locking metal clip that holds the bulbs in place may not wrap around the HID bulb's base. I had 3 different standard H3 bulbs and only one cleared the clip
- H3C style bulbs with a metal and ceramic base (second one from the left on my second photo of a previous post fit with no issues.
- You do have to drill the housings to run the HID related wiring. Google GX470 HID fog lights for details. The connector for the factory power and ground wires is molded onto the back cover of the housings,no grommets like in 3rd-gen 4Runners where you can run the HID bulb wiring through.
