I've had HID headlights for ages, my low beams on both my cars are HID. My day time running lights on my 08 are just the amber corners/turn signals, like in my picture. I don't leave the headlights switched on all the time, I only turn them on when I need them to help preserve my bulb and ballast life. I got the Morimoto HID kit from The Retrofit Source | Innovative Headlight Upgrades
They're a bit on the pricier side, but the quality is second to none. If you have an 03-05 you'll need the 9006 kit, if you have a 06-09 you would need the H11 kit. Hope that answers your questions.

The DRLs have nothing to do with low beam lights, so you need not worry about them. I picked up my HID kit from XenonDepot.

If it's a limited, then there's a switch on the headlight stick that's set to Auto, you should be able to disable that or switch it to off and turn them on and off manually

Anyway, You will need the following:
1) HID ballast (preferably a 35W). Try to get a waterproof one.
2) Wire harness (this wires directly.... plug and play.....connect to your low beams and to the HID ballast). wire harnesses usually include a relay. If not, walk away.
3) Pick an HID bulb, try 4300-5000K (anything less or more is worthless as far as lumens are concerned).
Try TRS (the retrofit source), customer service is A1, but a little more expensive. It's akin to contacting Crutchfield if you have limited knowledge of HIDs (radios and connections). You will pay more but its totally worth it.

No, This is all I ordered. I ordered 35 watt 5k temperature, the whitest they have. They sell a more powerful set, but these are bright as hell. The website didn't list 5k in those, but Steve said they could send whatever I wanted. I bought this.

Hi - I'm running the xenondepot hid extreme kit in my lowbeams (5000k). I think it was $150 during a sale.
I am also running a ddmtuning 35w 3000k kit in my fog. It was $40.
Both work fine after about a year. The ddm tuning kit balasts looks the same as the xenondepot but I do believe xenondepots are better.
My ddmtuning kit sometimes only turns on one bulb if the fogs are switched on during starting. I guess due to the decreased voltage. I just flip them off and on again and they work. My xenondepot lows always turn on fine.
I also bought wiring kits for both sets. I had to replace the relay in the dmm tuning wiring harness. I think it was my fault though as it for wet, salty during winter and rotted.
I am also running a ddmtuning 35w 3000k kit in my fog. It was $40.

Haven't been here in a while, but I put the 35 watt kit in the lows and left the halogen in the high. I almost never use the high beams now.

Get the relay harness, it makes things so much better and more stable.
I didn't use a relay. I would have if I would have gotten the higher wattage setup. I didn't feel it was needed with the 35 watt. I'd recommend asking your vendor if in doubt.
FYI OP you can go into the dealer and have them turn off the day time runners by computer its a simple on and off for them.
I have xenon depot kit in my 08 and well it works but there was fit issues with the bulbs. then ballast decided to die which they did warranty, The wiring harness was meh I've already had to replace the relay 3 or 4 times on it. And i still haven't address the issue with one bulb that is clearly a different color then the other bulb i have. Again definitely caused by the dead ballast when it was starting to go out it wasn't going on right away it would flicker.
I have been looking at other option be fore giving more money to xenon depot. Plus honestly i have a issue with having to take pictures of this and that to justify a problem before they will even consider warranty work which causes delays a day or two or whenever they do respond back. In the mean time your option for light are deal with one headlight or go to halogen till its fixed.
For the ones saying not to use a relay harness don't listen to that advice use it it servers a purpose unfortunately in my case it didn't
