Hid projector retrofit question

I just completed my retrofit with mini d2s morimoto kit. I used LED rings inside my shrouds. I havent installed the whole assembly yet. So the question is, where do I plug in or what do I tap into for my LED rings to work with the drls? I know that some of you guys have done retrofits like this. Maybe you could make my life a bit easier and tell me what you did?

I'll appreciate all help)

Parking light wires won't run all the time obviously. I think he's looking for the halos to just be on all the time when the truck is on. I don't have any information about hooking them up to the factory DRL's but mine are wired into the cabin and at the accessory wire at the ignition switch.

Obviously.
Maybe braddah man should state if he like um on 24/7 or what ah?

I hope you don't think I was trying to have an attitude, I was just meaning like obviously as you already know parking lights wouldn't be on all the time. I think by the fact that he said he wanted to hook them up to the DRL's would mean that he wanted them to be on all the time and work as DRL's.

Sorry to get you guys confused as I was confused myself. I actually meant parking lights. I want to get rid of drls completely though. So I guess the corners would work?

I'm also thinking of doing a turn/parking light mod. Basically I want my corners and turn signals both to be white and both flash amber as turn signals. I'm thinking of doing this with switchback leds, similar to the v3 triton that vled offers. I couldn't find a thread on anybody using those bulbs. So got any ideas?

Haha so Mr. B was correct then. Yeah use the power from the corner lights. And since you are in Canada, isn't a requirement to have DRL's? Or does running the switchbacks count as DRL's?

As for the switchbacks, those v3 ones are pretty expensive but that's all they sell right now. I am using some tower style from Vleds that I bought a couple years ago but they don't make anymore, I emailed them and they said they are working on some new ones but would still be a few months away. You can get some from ebay for like $30 or autolumination. There are two types of switchbacks. Type 1 flashes white-orange-white when you hit the blinker. And type 2 turns off the white completely and just blinks orange.

For the corner lights, I haven't seen a switchback for that size bulb.

By removing drls I mean that I dont want my headlights on all the time.

How would you wire something like that, say for instance I had the type 2 bulbs for both blinkers and corners. Would it be complicated?

You are going to need new sockets. I got some from ebay.

7443 Socket: Lighting & Lamps | eBay

They have three wires. You hook up two of them (blinker power and ground) to the existing blinker wires and then the third wire which is power for the white running light, you hook up to a wire that has power once the truck is on. I used the accessory wire at the ignition switch.

So these sockets will fit instead of existing ones in the corner lights? Or do I need these for both the corners and blinkers? My idea of this setup is power from the corners for both(for the white light to be on) and blinker power for both, would that work? Also did you have to use resistors for the leds?

What year is your truck?

Those will only fit for the blinkers. I don't know what you are going to do for the corners because I've never seen switchbacks for that size bulb. But your idea for wiring should work fine.

I don't have resistors but I replaced my blinker relay in the fuse panel next to the steering wheel.

My truck is 2002. Maybe I can modify the housing to fit some other kind of bulb? Or drill another hole for a second socket? Anyway if I managed to do that, would I be able to tap into my blinkers for the corners to perform the same function?

Ok then yeah those sockets I posted will fit your blinkers for the switchbacks.

Yeah I've seen other guys just drill into the back of their corners lights and add a second socket. And yeah you should be able to to just tap into the blinker wires and route that to the corners.

Installed my retrofitted headlights today. Output is awesome and they look badass!)

I didn't take any pics of the output. I can if anybody is interested.

A little problem though. Not sure why its that way.

The passenger side is better but still has that misalignment. Shouldn't they be in line with the corners? I'm pretty sure I put everything together right and aimed the headlights properly. I used TYC headlights for this project. Are they just crooked cuz they're cheap?

Haha, I just finished my projectors a few weeks ago with TYC headlights, and my driver side headlight and corner light dont match up good either.
