Hi,
The XenonDepot Xtreme HID kits come with low-draw ballasts, which means that you can safely power the ballasts directly from the OEM headlight harness. In the case of the 4runner, you do not have to use the included relay harness.

Just installed trs 35w elite hid kit. Output is way better than stock halogen. Only wish the stock projector lenses were clear.. Also the gasket is different compared to some older trs installs. I used a 13/16 brill bit. I read around and some used a 7/8 drill bit. Install went smooth once everything was figured out

How do you get the HID Hi Beams to fire fast enough to be beneficial?
Usually takes a bit for HID's to come up to there full potential.

They do light up right away and get brighter each second, when fully cold say about 5ish seconds. When passing people and I go from high to low and back again, they are basically at their full brightness right away. They were more than bright enough when they first lit up for me to see and then wow, if a deer was crossing the road I would easily see it well beforehand.

Do you know what brand they installed?
Just curious coming from the dealer and surprised they put HID's in the open halogen reflector.
I don't know if they would do that in these parts....

brand is beamers hids, Welcome to Beamers HID Lighting, the parts guy at Toyota had them in his catalog. Originally I was going to go with the ones from the retrofit source but thought I would go with the ones Toyota recommended so I could get the Toyota warranty on them as well. Will be getting my LED fog lights from the retrofit source once I have time to take mine out and verify they will fit. Being I did not see anyone answer if they would or not for a 2016 on a previous LED fog light thread.

how is that a bonus? It's not like you couldn't turn off the DRLs with the twist of a switch.

ok understood, have only had the 4runner since Friday, the Toyota tech told me they would no longer work with the installed HID's, so I assumed they went on automatically like most vehicles. I seem to be learning something each day about this vehicle.

I agree, wish the lens were clear. But there's place where you can switch out lens for a more clear one. Hopefully TRS can sell some clear lens

I had the Volt kit for a little over a year before the left side failed Twitched them around but it was a no go. Gonna order the Xtreme kit and see how it goes.
BTW, anybody notice some kind of streaking inside there headlight lens? Almost like water/condensation is causing it?

I heard from some that it requires a 3" lens. Unfortunately trs doesn't sell those anymore from what I'm hearing
If condensation is getting in you may have an opening somewhere.

My 2010 (just bought it a month ago) has this. I have yet to see moisture in my housing. I'm using Meguire's headlight restoration cream today. I'll see if that solves it.
I just installed an Innovited AC HID set off of Amazon. I've been installing HIDs pretty much since they've come out and I've owned sets as expensive as $200. This $30 set is just as good in quality and the reviews are amazing. My wife has been running the same brand in a dual-intensity for over a year with no issue and I'm running a dual-intensity set on my Triumph Street Triple R for two years, also without a single issue. I'm impressed.

I was thinking the same, but I don't want to toss more money into a retrofit like I did for my Tacoma.. Way to much $$ put into those with to many issues

I agree with you on that, I did a few retrofits... they are nice but sometimes the cost may keep adding up
I have like two sets done for my Tacoma and just had to many issues with failures, shipping. To much to deal with. My friend last night was like you should probably turn your high beams off. I was like those are my low beams.lol I'll stick with my stock headlights and put money elsewhere

Just purchased the HID system for 5th gens off the XenonSupply site (6000K w/ uprgaded slim ballasts). I got this one mainly because they are on sale and then having a Mother's day sale on top of that. Also the installation video seems really legit. I just hope they don't crap out on me or blind everyone on the other side of the road. I will do my best to take before and after pictures as well (making sure to use the same camera setting). Basically I had a bunch of questions about this kit, and I figured I could answer them for other people.
Next i will be looking to do something with my fog lights in the 3500K range. I am just not sure of the best option. Does anyone know of a good build for 2015-2016 fog lights that I can leave on all the time and wont blind people?
