HID upgrade, which one to go with?

I tried the Kensun and was not happy with them at all. Their ballasts made a high pitch whine sound and the bulbs almost melted. I returned them immediately and bit the bullet and went with Xenondepot's brand. Never a problem and had them in for some time now. I also went with LED fog lights.

I have heard this before about the whine !
Did you have 55W or 35W ?
I have 35W and was told only the 55w does this but do not know if this is true or not

I have the 35w Morimoto kit with 4500k bulbs, they're fantastic. Highly suggest them. I have 2 stroke LEDs in my fogs too and they're incredibly bright. I'd like them for high beams but I don't want to deal with the DRL stuff right now on my 2016.

I have the kensun 55w no whine...however if I could do it again I'd probably go with the 35w 55w is a bit bright lol

I had the 35watt...I was more concerned with the tip of the bulb actually turning black and melting

You put the LED's in your High Beams & don't have to deal with DRL issues if you Disable the DRL...... :boom:

Thanks for posting that. I googled it and it turns out there are 4 companies that provide a DRL discount: USAA, Farmers, Geico, and State Farm. The difference seems negligible though... not enough to influence a decision.

For those of you looking at the Kensun jsut be ready for some shoddy connectors and loose fitting. The bulbs seem okay and the wiring is ok but the connectors are crap.

The one good thing is that their customer service seems to be good and the warranty is 2 years. so for $50 and a few connectors of your own or electrical tape you might be ok.

Just my $0.02 thus far... waiting for my replacement ones since i complained about the shoddy connectors.

I'm going to be disabling my DRLs when I get home from this hitch. I have the 2-stroke leds in my high/drl spot but the drl pulse is really bad. I've asked around to all the major companies and they still haven't developed an led to work with the PWM. I drive with my headlights on 24/7 so I'll disable the drl function in case I ever hit the switch by accident. I know I wouldn't want that pulsating laser beam in my face if I was the oncoming driver.

But I also have the 35W Morimoto HID kit in my low beams and they're flawless even after 6 months. They're a great addition.

I made the mistake of installing LEDs in my low beams and will be swapping them out with some 35w morimoto with 5500k bulbs this weekend. I will update after i install but so far looks like a very high quality kit.

I have some questions for @XexonDepot but if anyone else knows feel free to chime in.

I have the Philips X-treme Ultinon LED bulbs in H11 for the fogs on my Tacoma. I have since got a 2015 4runner. It is my understanding that this bulb will work in the H16 fog housing on the 4runner. Is this correct?

Also, I'm looking into putting one of your X-treme HID kits in the low beams. Which color would match my LED fogs best? The box on the LED's says it's 6000k but it looks more like 4300 or 5000.

And lastly, do you recommend using Philips bulbs in 4300 over the others? If so, why?

recently added Rigid DOT fog lights now the wifey wants the headlights to match the fogs lol...philips 4300? or the 5K? I ran the same fogs on my titan with retrofit projectors with the Morimoto 5K 35watt and they matched perfectly...i also saw a comparison between a Titan member's Morimoto HID's and your HID's and i'm sold on your guy's bulbs. Better output, and crisper lines. Which is saying a lot considering the comparison was on the same custom retrofit with all TRS parts.
