Both are 6Cyl 2WD
Routine Maintenance only. Some sunroof leak issues but that's it.
Thinking about giving suspension system an overhaul.
I'm spoiled now...
Nowhere to go but downhill on next vehicle.
Don't care for 5th Gen.

I'm curious too as to who has seen some very high miles. 250k-300k+

I know they are out there.

My 4Runner runs like its brand new. No shakes, no creeks, no rattles. Only change the oil & timing belt.

Maintenance record is perfect - all scheduled and recommended maintenance done at the dealership - I checked on Toyota owner's website. 3 previous owners, one accident. Looks immaculate inside. Offered at $8k. Trying to decide if it's too crazy to even consider such high mileage vehicle.Would love to hear advice from folks here.

I'm new to this forum and couldn't post a new thread. Sorry for posting here - I thought since it's a high mileage vehicle that I could post here. Owning a 4runner has been a long time dream. Thanks in advance!

Pull number 6 plug and examine. If it looks good buy it. Also just because the dealership did the work, does not mean it was done correctly. Mine has never been serviced anywhere but home and I would not hesitate to drive it across the country. Good luck!

FWIW, I never imagined buying a used vehicle with 96K miles until I was in the market for a 4Runner, did my research, and found one at that mark. Took it to my mechanic and he said, "Ninety-six thousand? That's just getting warmed up for a 4Runner." Eighteen months and 23K miles later, my '07 Sport still looks, runs, and drives damn near as good as new.

But...as solid as these trucks are, 230K is a lot of miles, no question. Patience can be a great thing if you want to find one with lower mileage. Took me over a year to find mine. Just comes down to what you're most comfortable with - waiting or starting with 230K on the clock.

I bought my 03 V8 with 240k on it. The price was right and the truck was/is in very good condition. After getting it caught up on all the maintenance, it runs as good as any other on the road, has no oil leaks, rattles or squeaks.

Just bought my 05 v8 4x4 SportEdition with 180k. I've driven it about 600 miles this week, and I am confident that the previous owners took great care of her. I am very happy with my purchase. I look forward to topping the highest mileage 4th gen in this thread.

I just hit 200k a few days ago. My '05 Sport feels like a young one, in this thread. Hopefully will hit 300 and 400k, in the coming years and decades.
