highest mileage???

420,000 miles

420,000 miles...not too shabby. Bought "Mr. T" brand new back in 1998. Original engine and tranny.

My condolences on the loss of Stevie, the hilux surf, is that like a diesel 4runner? Can you get those in the states, the engine & drivetrain anyway?

Yes its the Jap version of the 4Runner the gen 2 got the 2.4td which was crap then later the 3.0td massive improvement or the 3.0v6. We did get the uk 4runner for a very short time 3.0td or 3.0v6 there were more import surfs sold in the uk than officially imported 4runners, we never got the gen1, we did get the gen3 but only as a grey import, and I have never seen a gen4 or newer. I don't think you would have got the diesel over the pond you guys seem to prefer the gas engines.
Stevie

The Surf without a name Stevies replacement!

299K as of yesterday. Will likely hit 300K before my 34th birthday in April. I am the second owner. 98 SR5 5-spd manual. The transmission went on me in October, so she made it about 296K on the original. But she is starting to show her age. I pumped $2,500 into her back then and I don't plan on putting her up now. Got a really bad body rocking issue I am trying to get solved. Its pretty dangerous honestly.

Back in January (before this rocking started) the wife and I loaded her up, hooked up my duck boat, put 200# worth of beer, makers mark, and food in a cooler on the deck, another 6 dozen decoys, couple cases of shells and all our necessaries and drove her from VA to AR to duck hunt for ten days. Only hiccup was a parking light assembly fell out and got ripped free by a prairie head wind.

Yes, would be nice to go diesel once my gasser gives up the ghost, but it doesn't show signs of quitting anytime soon, and all the emissions regs we have stateside make it tough to get a swap like that.
Sounds like fun though

Running :gun6: !

302,000+ original engine and tranny--4 clutches, and one front end rebuild on a 99 SR5, 5 speed, 4WD; but who is counting...
