Hole in the side of my block

Hey all,

I have a 92 3vze with a huge hole in the side of the block. Hahaha
Suspected bearings were shot.

Was driving on the freeway near home and it was knocking like no tomorrow. So I thought I would push a little harder then Bang!!!!

So it blew a hole near cylinder 6 at the bottom of the block. Things look nice and mashed inside.

I just want to understand what happened.

So oil pressure was low ( raising slightly with increased rpm ), oil level was as it should be
Engine was knocking ( assuming rod knock )
Lack of torque.

I assume oil pump was on it's way out which made it wear out bearings
Then when I was full throttle going up a hill in 3rd gear it was too much strain on the bearings then bearing gives way rod hits the side of the block and poof big cloud of smoke and a big hole in my block.

Is my thinking correct?

I have another motor sitting on my garage floor so I wasn't worried about the motor currently in the 4runner I don't normally trash cars I like to keep them running lol

ha ha ha ha funny how fast this thread lost track.. but yes i agree pictures would be cool!

as far as what happened.. the bearings were most likely worn causing the oil to flow too freely and making you maintain low oil pressure (which is the first sign of either a worn pump or bad bearings) and basically you threw a rod out the side of your case.. AWESOME! i've been trying to blow a yota motor since i was 16 and the dang things just keep running! post some pics, i'm eager to see!

Take pictures of everything before you touch it. Vacuum lines, wiring, belts..ect that way when your putting then new one in, you have pictures of what its supposed to look like. Also keep good track of your nuts and bolts. Ziplock bags work nice (write on them with a sharpie) or a tackle box kinda of thing also works well.

Photos will be up tonight. Just wanna say bloody good advice on not cutting wires. Wiring loom is a pain in the rear. Had the ****s with it at one point, Got it out no dramas though. I blew a hole in both sides of the block which cracked the case on the starter motor and the gold oil cooler thingy also.
