Holes in OEM air filter box... anyone else?

I just opened up the factory air cleaner box and noticed that there were three small holes drilled in the lowest point of the lower half of the OEM air filter box. I am assuming these are to let water drain out if it ever made its it way into the air filter box, but since this is my first 4Runner and the vehicle is new to me, I don't know if that is supposed to be that way from the factory or if it is something the previous owner drilled out? If its not supposed to be there I will probably fill the holes in since I don't plan on going in deep enough water for that to ever be an issue. Thanks.

Mine is the same, I'm pretty sure it's for drainage.

It's stock for drainage. Water and condensation can get into the box and needs somewhere to drain out. Don't fill them in.
