Does anyone have intermittent trouble with homelink. Poor range, have to push the button multiple times, sometimes I can't get it to work at all (and have to rely on a key:sobbing: )

I have no problem with Chamberlain Opener and i get very good range too.

I have no problems but have to hold button for a few seconds before opener responds.

I have programmed all three buttons on mine, and none of them work very well. I have to push the buttons really hard, and usually 2 or 3 times to get it to work and the range is terrible.
I was really hoping the feature would work well so I wouldn't have to use the remote garage door opener anymore.

I have programmed my left and right buttons, I can just tap them and it opens the garage....however.....the right one would work from the street to my door, 100+ feet away. The left one would have to be about 25' away. Same garage door opener units. I found the wire antenna on the left one was coiled up inside the unit, so I extended it like the other one, now they both work perfect! (had a feeling it was that because the same behavior was with the original door opener controlers as well)

Do you mind expanding on how you did that? I was just curious if the wires were behind the opener and what you did to get to them. My range isn't that good either.

I've had to hold mine down until it responds but it usually works pretty well. I haven't had to resort to the old remote yet.

I have my left button programmed to open my Craftsman Garage Door opener as well. I just keep the button pushed till the door starts to open, works every time. As far as range goes, I'm usually right outside since I have to back in, so about 20-50 ft typically from the actual unit.
Ours took forever to program. Used Homelinks Cnd instructions and got 2 of our 3 doors programmed. Range is at least 75 feet. But...just the other day, the wife accidentally pressed 2 buttons at once coming in the driveway. Now the first button opens/closes both doors!!!! The other 2 buttons no longer work. Have to go back and reprogram again! It was much easier on my Tundra.
Scott, I may be wrong on this, but if I remember the T4R manual correctly, it explains how to program the homelink based on two different types of garage door openers. One set of instructions with a set security code and the other for a door opener with a rolling code. (Different instructions). I suspect you may have been using the instructions for a system you do not have. I would re read the manual for both systems and figure out which one you have, then try again. If you get the same result, move all your other vehicles and hand held transmitters out of range, then try one more time and see what happens.
Are you used to an older Homelink system? Where you just touch the button once and it would send out an instant signal? I have a friend who is very knowledgeable about these systems and the other day he told me that they changed the electronics not too long ago whereas there is a built in delay with the system to make sure you really want to open or close a door. This, because many complaints were received over the years that a slight accidental touch would cause a signal to go out when the operator really did not want it too. This occurred a lot when the Homelink buttons were located near the sun/moon roof button. The operator reached up to open or close the sun roof while driving away from the home, inadvertently just touched the home link button opening a garage door, but the driver kept driving away leaving the home unsecured. Not a good thing. Now, they want you to really hold down that button for at least 1 to 2 seconds before a signal is transmitted. Annoying if your used to the other system, but better in the long run. IMO.
This happened to me years ago and I discovered that after I hit the learn button on opener number 1, even after programing that opener, the learn mode would stay on longer then I thought. When I tried to program opener number 2, the learn mode for the first opener was still on and it confused the system. Thus, only one opener would program. By the time I got to the third opener, well, you get the drift. Just make sure the learn mode is on only on the one opener you are trying to program. This should help.

I have no problem opening the garage door from 20 feet away but I actually have to keep the vehicle almost in the garage to close it. It completely loses range when closing. Our other car has the standard hand held and works from a distance both open and close. The dealer replaced the unit and it still doesn't close at a small distance. Inside the garage it works perfectly. Any ideas to remedy this problem?
