Honest mechanic near London/Cambridge Ontario?

Hi All

I've been lurking for a couple of months, but this is my first post. This is a great resource - this forum is just amazing.

I'm looking to buy a Gen 4 Limited V8 with about 100km, and I'd be hesitant to spend more than $25K. I think I've narrowed my search down to two trucks. One is in Cambridge Ontario, and the other is in Woodstock. The Woodstock truck looks awesome, drives well and has a lower price, but has been on the market for a while and I'm not sure I trust the stealership that is selling it. This is why I need an honest mechanic, preferably in between the two, that could look them over and let me know if there is anything I should know. Anyone in the area have someone they trust?

Big big big bonus points for Cambridge Toyota, as they said I could drive the truck to Toronto to have my guy look it over. That's a long drive, and I've never heard of anything like this. The problem is that the back looks a bit chewed up, so I think the other truck hasn't had as rough a life.

Another question: one of the trucks I drove kept moving the (stock) adjustable height control in the back from high/low back to the neutral position. We weren't at highway speeds, but we were close. I've read on this forum that this seems to be a regular occurrance near 15-19 mph or so. Is this normal? Why wouldn't it stay on your chosen setting? Curious.

Thanks Chaz. I had read that first link, but those other two explained things perfectly.

I did use the search feature, but searches for 'rear lift', 'adjustable rear height' (etc) came back with mostly mod threads.

Find the history of the vehicle before buying as well. Spend the $20 and get the UVIP package from the MOT. Well worth it. I looked at a couple that Cambridge Toyota had for sale last year. Way overpriced to start, and I saw one that just came off the truck from the auction. Came from Quebec with studded tires, scratched and beaten to hell but did a good clean/cover up job before putting it on the lot. A lot of the auction vehicles they get come from Quebec which doesn't keep history records like Ontario. Good luck in your search.

I bought new from Cambridge Toyota based on price after doing an email blitz of 15 Toyota dealers. Genuine, good encounter . I don't have any experience with their service or used sales.
