I do not regret adding the Magnuson at all. Best mod I ever did. For people concerned about the box tune on the Magnuson, their stock tune is not bad. I opted for the Ucon EMS from URD. This gives you the ability to have a more refined tune for your specific vehicle. I can say that it runs better in all all aspects with the Ucon, and it allows for other mods to be accounted for in the tune such as CAI or exhaust. If you can swing any supercharger set up Do it, you will not regret it

Not sure what else is different, but Magnuson accounts for those as well. Maybe it's a newer offering? You use the tuner to download the factory ECU, upload to Magnuson using their online form and tell them all your mods, gearing, etc. and they send the tune back.

I seriously doubt you will find many that will admit to it even if they were not 100% satisfied.
I’ve driven a supercharged 4.0 Tacoma and that was enough to put the urge to get one on the back-burner for me. It wasn’t bad, but I was just expecting (or hoping) for a lot more. Perhaps I set my expectations too high and set myself up for disappointment.

To be honest I couldn’t answer as to what is different, but can tell you that it idles smoother, accelerates smoother and is faster. When I installed the Ucon I did a remote tuning session with URD and did some pulls on the street. Each time time they adjusted the tune it felt better and better. The Magnuson tune I was told was running slightly lean in the higher rpms after doing my initial logged pulls during that session. My fuel system was also pretty maxed out. May do injectors soon. Either way my truck always ran pretty well with the Magnuson no matter what tune it’s been on.

If I had to do over again, would I? Not sure.
We all have our own reasons to consider a supercharger, hence what motivates me might not suffice for others. Obviously many of us wish Toyota offered the 1UR-FE or 3UR-FE as options. Instead we're left with the option of a $40k truck and adding $7k for a SC, or a $50k GX that looks more luxury item than off-roader. The LC option is even more expensive.
Am I happy with the supercharger? I love the lower power band, more power, whistle/whine at cruise, and surprised looks from the muscle car drivers. The pitfalls, MPG drop (1-2mpg), high octane requirement (increased cost, limited availability in deep back country), of course the price tag. I can live with everything, though that $7k pill was hard to swallow. I was long on the fence about it, but in the end decided to go for it. What decided it was the obscene amount of overtime I've been forced to work in the guise of public safety. Given the option of starting to mod all over again in a V8 equipped vehicle or springing for the SC. The latter seemed more logical, frugal, and didn't require selling one vehicle to pay for another longer larger loan.
So, if I wouldn't do the SC again what might I do instead? Stop at the last configuration I had before the SC. It was ~$1300 worth of mods that was a significant improvement over stock, and certainly butt dyno approved.
aFe MomentumGT CAI, URD MAF Calibrator, & URD Y-pipe. I fed it the same BP 93 octane I feed the SC, but it handled lower octanes easier than the SC which sees a noticeable power loss even at 91 octane. Is it as good as a SC, of course not, but the cost is much more tolerable.

Lipstick on a pig. The truck is a pig..its slow and cumbersome. It reminds me of a school bus.. did anybody really buy this thing for carving corners and dominating the interstate? :bump2:
First vehicle ive ever owned that always seems to like to be driven..slowly.

Agree, some great answers here and shows how great the community is, As the original poster, I was not sure what to expect on such a question. $7K is no small pill to swallow and I am SURE we all have had buyer's remorse before on one thing or another. Keep in mind that is also 4.X shares of Amazon stock. ;-)

I'm going on my second month after having installed it on my 2016. My only regret is not having done it sooner. Sure $7K is a lot, but it has made my rig much more enjoyable to drive.
