Hood freeplay normal

I have been searching for a v8 4runner and saw one yesterday. The only concern I had was when I closed the hood I noticed some up/down freeplay. Not alot but definitely noticeable. Is this normal? The VIN tags are all intact for the hood and fenders.

Nope, probably just needs to get the rubber stops adjusted, especially since the VIN tags are still in place. (I just went to check mine and there is 0 play in the hood, and my decals are also in tact)..

I never think to check for the VIN plate, but my hood flexes a lot. (v8, but I don't think that matters)
When driving on the freeway etc I can see some slight deflection. I think it might be a replacement (non OEM) hood.

Dunno...

Mine seems to have some play in it too, on the freeway I notice it moving the slightest amount. I tried using the rubber stops to tighten it up but it didnt seem to help. Ive thought about getting hood pins to stop it, but Im not too fond of drilling holes in my hood.

Mine kinda dances a little too, especially on the interstate. Never been wrecked, (take that back, budget truck backed into me but it's done it since I bought it) and my vin stickers and everything are still intact. What are the rubber stops you're talking about? I didn't know there were ones that could be adjusted.

It is not normal for 4th gen 4Runners;
On my truck hood is solid (no movement at all) regardless of the speed (tested above 100 MPH many times:bluejump:); all original OEM;
I would start by adjusting rubber stops;

Mine has some free play too with gaps towards the headlights where the fender meet. And it's a bit high on one corner. LOL....no accident on records.
