It's likely a certifit hood. I went this route for my 3rd gen. Bought the cheap $80 hood. Came primed ready for paint. Then like you said, just bought the insert and guide. The fitment is decent, but not great. The sheet metal is definitely thinner than stock. My 3rd gen is 16 years old and I'm happy with the hood for what I paid for it, but to me it would be worth the extra cash to buy an OEM hood this time around. My new 5th gen is just too nice to not have a perfectly fitting hood. Just my 2 cents! You can buy an unpainted hood on eBay for 120 bucks. Then you just need the scoop insert, guide, and paint
Just a little bump. Were you able to come up with a solution yet? :biggrin1:Christ that's it I'm going to come up with a solution to get us all have hood scoops and will charge 10% over cost for it. I'll be able to retire.

I do! I do! Any chance you'll be driving through Colorado any time soon? :bigok: Is shipping an option??I'm the opposite. I don't like the hood scoop. Barcelona red with 1200 miles and the clear paint protection installed...who wants to trade?

I tried for a while and then couldn't wait any longer and bought one from my dealer friend at Toyota for cost, and had it painted. Try ALL the junkyards and pick N pulls, you never know you may get lucky!
How much did that cost your out the door if you don't mind me asking?
