Deuce

When I was searching for a hood swap for my SR5 there is probably only one T4R.org documented hood swap between 2 members, it between Antman and another member.

I think most folks here like to play around with the idea of swapping their TE hood but never go through with it.

I got lucky and met another TE owner at a gas station and he happened to have an extra OEM TE hood of the same color in his garage!

Make that 2! I got lucky with another member here in SF.

Just subscribe to the for sale/ trade thread her in the 5th gen section with immediate updates to your phone and troll the general classifieds section regularly. The offers are rare, but can be found if you wait long enough.

I was lucky when honda99ex wanted a flat hood. Jumped on that deal like a fat kid on a doughnut!

I was one of those unicorns that traded my trail hood for a flat hood and EVERY single day I'm glad I did! I think CF_Machete feels the same way so it worked out. Different strokes for different folks. I hated the glare, the way the hood wobbled, and I personally think it's ricey...

I have a 2014 SR5 in Magnetic grey. Would love to hood swap for the hood scoop. Hood is in great shape. Let me know if interested!

For the first couple months I never understood the glare issue. Never happened. Then eventually - it happened and was terrible. However, in my 13000 miles it’s only happened a handful of times and usually pretty briefly. I like the look of the scoop and think it’s “worth” it.

That being said - if people happen to be at a certain spot in the country on a certain time of day just right, it could happen extensively on a regular commute. Just a big hit or miss I think depending where you live and when/where you drive.

If that happened to me daily for extended periods, I wouldn’t want it. It’s oretty damn terrible when it does happen.

Picked up my 2018 TRD Premium in Super white on 1/31/2018 - would prefer the flat hood. In Charleston SC.

Sorry - the wife vetoed and the hood stays.

Why don’t you guys just find good body shops that will handle it for you. They can order the scooped hood, paint it and install it for you. Maybe you can get a decent deal by letting them keep your old hood. They could use it at some point if they have to repair another 5th gen.
