Horn Replacement

So I've read that Lexus horns are direct plug and play for our Toyota 4Runners...the horn in my 2000 4Runner sounds weak and I'm tired of these terrible Texas drivers cutting me off!

Which models and years should I be looking for?

hmmmm I don't know about that but I will say the horns on my CT-200h are great!

On the 4Runner I have Hella Supertone Hi/Low combo kit. ~$50 on Amazon.

I also have Hella super tones. Sound way better than the factory horn. They look pretty cool too.

Install is very simple too.

dang it. i was finished swapping stuff out on my 4runner when this stupid thread appeared. i have a the same color 4runner as thebrandon and love the way those look.

how easy was the install?

i'm going broke saving money on the T4R forum.

I got a pair of ford f150 horns from a junkyard for about $10, very easy install. nice and loud, sounds like a truck's horn should.

The only downside of the hella super tones is the obnoxious red face. I disassembled mine and painted the faceplates black. It took about 5 mins per horn.

I'm running the Hella Horn Knocks offs. I found them on ebay. They were $30 something shipped. They look the same, and sound the same. I just mounted mine where the factory horns go and cut the factory connector off and crimped on the connectors needed for the hella horns. Probably a 20 min install tops.

I installed the PIAA 400/500Hz kit. Sound great.

x2

I did the PIAA sports horn. Believe mine are the same Hz. Sound great, nice and loud. Pretty much a direct plug in. It was easy enough for me to install.
PIAA makes great quality stuff and these horns are already black, no painting needed.

4 different tone horns out of an early 80's Caddy and a relay, plus 1 meep meep yota horn 'cause the hubby said I couldn't.

Does anyone know what the Ambulance/Police type horn is called or where to buy one?
I am talking about the horns that have more of a buzzing sound than a horn tone.
Thanks

My air horn gets it done just fine. Super Loud and sends a message when I have to venture into LA and Orange County traffic in SoCal.

I too have air horns, but it's on my Chevy diesel. I would put another set on my Yota...if it didn't cost so much! If I remember correctly...I think I have $400-500 invested in them. A lot of money...but damn they are loud!! They get everybody's attention...might even put a small poop stain on some underwear :lmao:

I think for the Yota, I'm going to give the Caddy horns a try...
