Horn stopped working....not a fuse

Don't worry...I checked the fuses But do worry...because they are all fine.

I did a quick google search and it seems there is no horn relay on my '99 Runner, but it could be the "clock spring"....what the heck is that?

If your horn quit working and the fuses are all good....and you wanted to fix it...where would you start?

lol, I would start by replacing the factory horn with something "Manly" sounding!

Here's a writeup on the clock spring (spiral cable). Although there's usually multiple failures when that goes bad according to most of the posts I've seen. Horn, turn signals, cruise control can all be affected. So if it's just your horn I'd keep looking before tearing into this.

i got that covered take a test light and push the horn button no light means u got other problems

I started with seeing if it was unplugged in front of the radiator. They wiggle themselves loose on occassion...twice for me now.

Upgrading a horn to sound manly? Lol That's like tryin to sound tougher while you *shush* somebody.

This just keeps getting more weird. To my shock and amazment the wire at the horn was cut clean through! I don't know if a rock hit up through the grill just right or who knows.

So I reconnected the broken wire, and.....nothing. Damn horn still doesn't work!

FSM Horn Wiring Diagram

Here is your horn schematic. There are three legs at the Body ECU under the dash.

Switched ground from the wheel/clockspring.
12+ Voltage from fuse.
12+ out to horn.

Check all three with a test light or DMM. Trace leg that doesn't work. If all 3 work, problem is in Body ECU.

How did you check fuse? best is swap with known good. Visual check will reveal a burn, but breaks are harder to see--and sometimes they break almost invisibly.
