Okay so after the LC and bilstein lift.. i gottttsta cv boot leak.. now as anyway who surveys this site regularly will know, ive had some issues, and ive posted too many questions.. i am sorry haha but i cant tell you HOW much i have learned thanks to you guys.. so heres my next, tomorrow my trucks going for an alignment (i have negaitve camber) and i want to seal the boots as best as possible. It is the inner small seal leaking the worst. I stole this photo from another site, now what i did was cut the left over part of the clamp from tightening it off, i now of course have fairly jagged edges and they are maybe a millimeter or two extending beyond the body of the clamp, if i hit a pot hole will this send the body with the sharp edge into my boot? Should i quickly take them off before my roomate drives my truck into the shop tomorrow, i also just put in the diff drop so hopefully that helps a bit.. thanks!

I don't really understand what you're saying... You cut off part of the hose clamp (the excess that hangs over from tightening it), which left it sharp, and you're afraid that if you hit a pothole, it will tear your boot open again?

Ah right sorry. I couldn't find annnny tears so it looks like its leaking from the oem clamp. So I'm just tryin to tighten it down. It seems to of worked well on one side. I'm just worried the part where I cut off could get pushed into the boot somehow

I don't know what you could do in that situation, maybe put a new hose clamp on there and don't cut it at a sharp angle, or get a smaller hose clamp that won't leave so much extra slack when you tighten it down. I have a feeling you should be okay and might just be over thinking this a little.

i think youre right, but after you work for 12 hours then 6 hours in the garage and forget to reconnect your rear lower control arms then watch your driveshaft fall out of your truck as you pull out of the garage.. you tend to get overcautious hahaha :) thanks for the input

I understand, I've been there, and no problem. But how did your driveshaft fall out because you didn't put your LCA back together?

Haha well the LCA were off and i went to pull out of the garage and my rear diff must have swung back and my driveshaft just before the u joint slipped right out and landed on the ground.... made some horrid noises, then luckily me and a fellow t4r member pulled off the plate just before the u joint where the teeth from the driveshaft go in and banged it back in then swung the diff back and lined up the holes and bolted it back on.. i never expected such a massacre from forgetting to put the LCAs back on and only traveling a matter of feet :|

It will be OK for a few days. But if I were you. I'd take them off and zip tie them temporary and get some that won't cut you're boots like these which have a rolled edge Hose Clamp 1 - 1-5/8 (25mm-40mm) Range

X2 on this advice. I had the exact same issue after my lift, and I used some of these with the rolled edges without an issue so far (about 3K miles). The only thing I do is periodically check how tight they are as for some reason they seem to loosen up after a while. A few quick turns to snug them down again and there has been no leaking. Good luck!
