How About Another Meet?

LOLOLOLO.

Shit, that was a good movie. And ya know what, i would be him, he had those old school moon boots. Man those things are like white tigers, you know they are out there, but you never get a chance to see them.

For those of us who missed last time, can you put directions to Harolds.

Not sure if I can make it - but I will try.

We don't need no stinkin' directions!

Ok... some of us do...

Here is the address:
Harold's New York Deli
3050 Woodbridge Ave
Ramada Inn
Edison, NJ 08837
732-661-9100

It's off Exit 10 on the NJ TPKE.

I'm coming from close to the Lincoln Tunnel so we could caravan down if you want. Koz is in the next town over from me.

Anyone else coming from N NJ or NY? Let me know and I'll scout for a good place to meet up.

Well, I'm off 145 off the parkway. or 15 on the TP. THere are plenty of rest stops on the PkWY . Isht we can just meet on the side of the road.

Meeting on the side of the road is dangerous. Your size 12.5s might get run over :p.

There's a service area on NJ TPKE between 16E and 15E going southbound. I don't think you can get to it coming north. That might be a good place to meet people before we head down.

There's also a huge parking lot off Rt 3 just before the TPKE.

The TPKE service area is probably the most convenient place for everyone to meet.

Also, if you have FRS radios, maybe we should use them on the way down. I've used them for some M3 runs and they work great car to car within 1/2 mile.

lol. We could meet anywhere. I guess we just need a census as to where. I am by all of those locals, so anywhere is good for me

Koz - I'm about 5 mins from there. We can meet there, then join up with everyone else at the service area around 10:15am and head down.

FRS RADIOS!!! They're cheap and very useful.

Maybe a silly question. but what is an FRS radio, and where do you get them. Anyone in mind that is good quality. $$

FRS = Family Radio Service.

Frequencies set aside for short range walkie talkies. Motorola makes probably the best. They start at under $10 each now. I first bought a pair of Motorola TalkAbouts for $175 ea. when they first came out. The pair I have now is the T5920 with rechargeable batteries and a charging base which I got for $50 (on sale).

Just make sure you get one with a rechargeable battery or you'll be spending a LOT of money on AA batteries.

All FRS radios do but Motorola has 38 security codes on each channel. That's why I recommend Motorola.

Best Buy has the T6500R with NOAA weather channel for $60. I should've gotten these but they weren't available when I bought mine. Great deal on them too.

edit:
Bass Shop Pro has the ones I have for $50. They're much more elsewhere but the 6500 are newer and have the NOAA weather channel. They're great for snowboarding/skiing too.

Is this meet still on for Feb 19th?

What time and location? I read the thread, but there seems to be some confusion...

Who will be there? I might be able to make it this time....

I was trying to get all the people in the NYC area to meet up at the first service area on the NJ TPKE and caravan down. I think I'm still going to be there. The service area is between Exits 16E and 15E going southbound. If you're coming from the Lincoln Tunnel or GWB, you'll be before the service area.

I'll try to get to the service area around 9:30am and schedule to leave at 10am sharp! I know Koz lives in the next town over and chunderboy is somewhere by exit 15.

I just bought a grease gun and will probably be greasing my driveshaft at the meet if I don't have time to do it earlier. Might also do my lights too. If anyone has anything to do to their trucks, let me know and I can bring my tools (Mostly Snap-Ons). I only have a race jack for my M3 so we'll either be jacking with the emergency jack or if someone has a heavy duty jack, bring it along if someone needs it. The parking lot is pretty big and we probably won't be bothered there even if we start wrenching on our trucks.

If you have a FRS radio, bring it. Channel 5, code 0 (Just ch. 5 for non-motorola radio users). This got me thinking that we need cb radios. I've been looking into it off and on for a few weeks. I'll probably need one once I start going off-roading.

Did I miss anything?

I've got a heavy duty SUV floor jack (single pump, high lift:cool: )) that I can throw in back for anyone to use. Maybe I'll grease my driveshaft/u-joints too....

I'll definitely bring it if I can make it to the meet, but I won't know for sure until Thursday. I might have to work on Saturday.... Sunday is generally a much better day for me.
