If you have a FRS radio, bring it. Channel 5, code 0 (Just ch. 5 for non-motorola radio users).

I've got a pair of FRS radios that I use for skiing.... They happen to be Motorola, but just so you know, most other brands of FRS radios also have the sub-channels.

I remember skiing with my first FRS radio and it was hard to find an open channel because they were so limited. Now with all the sub-channels, it's pretty easy to find an open channel even when skiing.

I might be coming from NYC so meeting at the service area would be easier for me. I'll let you know if it changes but I doubt it.

Usually, the code or sub-channels don't work with different brands. I've had this problem with motorolas and cobras. It's just easier to stay on a main channel.

I've been using them since they came out. My first pair was $300! Now I have a pair with rechargeable batteries and a charging station for under $50. They're great for the slopes but also work really well in caravans (M3 runs in the canyons of CA).

We're going to have to start using cb radios.

Hahahahah let me explain the one-pump jack-- It only takes one pump to get the jack from the down position to the bottom of your vehicle.

In other words, one pump will make the jack touch your frame/axle or whatever, regardless of the height. THen you have to pump it a few times to actually lift it up.

That's much better than pumping the jack over and over again just to get it to touch the frame rails

Really? I've been on ski trips with 20-30 people who have different radios and nobody ever seems to have a problem communicating on the sub-channels.

I always thought the sub-channels were a specific frequency that would work on any radio....

Does Motorola make any specific channels that are only found on their brand? That would be pretty cool for really busy places....

The sub-channels used to be proprietary for Motorolas only. I don't know if they changed now that they have FRS/GMRS radios.

OK, the service area between 15e - 16e, where exactly is that. If I get on the Turnpike south in Secaucus (County Road), will I be able to access the service area. Also, are we meeting there at 10:15am to convoy down. We should get a head count for the service area. The meet at Harold's is at 11am, right.

For me, the easest and most convenient way onto the turnpike, is to take the gsparkway to exit 129 then get on the tp at exit 11 southbound. Does anyone know of one there

I think we're making it more complicated than it has to be.

We're meeting at Harold's at 11am. If you're early or late, that's fine.

To make it easier for the new guys, I thought meeting at the service area would help so we could caravan down. If you get on TPKE south from Lincoln tunnel or north, you should see it right after exit 16e. I'm not exactly sure where it is but I've seen it before. I was planning on getting there around 9:30am and waiting until 10am before I head out.

If you can't find it, get on your radio and listen for some 4runner nuts chattering away. If that doesn't work, just head south to exit 10 and meet us at Harold's.

I went to Circuit city and got myself a subwoofer:

The amp i already had, so in addition to all the necessary wires

So, those two items, plus the installation should come to 160 or so.

One of my friends in his E36 BMW, has that exact setup, and he said that it pounds nicely. I mean i am not looking for a system that is going to shake out my fillings, but some nice low end for the JBl is what i was looking for

Since I have the Scion and the original setup had no amp, I would need a Toy square connector for the back of the HU; which might be hard to find? I will search the Audio Section to see if anyone has done this.

I think that bobby is going to do that setup. He has the Scion HU, and i think that he is putting in a sub and amp as well
