How crazy does this sound?

I am tossing around the idea of trying to trade my Limited (5k on it) for a Trail - I was very torn when I bought my truck. Every time I see a Trail I wish I had one based on the exterior look but I am not sure how I would feel about loosing all of the extra options on the interior - Any thoughts or advice??

Why dont you just do what Harper did? His is a limited with a full Trail make over, and damn that thing looks awesome. Itll take some time but atleast you get to keep all your interior options that you like. If I had the patience, and know how I would do it too. I would of loved to get a trail but like you I wanted all the limited interior options.

Blizzard Pearl with the TE exterior would make me too jealous or else I'd help you!
JK.......we can make it happen but it's alot of work and Money.Alot less then you would lose on a trade in though.Maybe start buying the parts a little at a time. You know where I live already!Pm me !

How about you take a trip to long island and do mine too!

Just go with the demello bumper and sliders once theyre available, black the chrome out, and obviously lift it. It will be a whole new truck. Add the ARB locker to take it to the next level.

i love my limited inside and out! the exterior has changed some but it will still look like a limited (except for the debadged emblems) when i get custom sliders and after i trim down and reattach my rocker panels. yet, it will (and currently does, IMHO) have rugged appeal with a little bit of modification work.

the limited trim has everything i want and need and i couldn't be happier! keep your limited and use the money to customize it exactly how you want it to look/perform. i guarantee if you do it right you'll be glad you kept it. good luck!

yeah, i would lean towards sticking with the Limited and tricking it out as you please. you'll get porked on a trade (or private sale, for that matter) and you may as well spend those $$ on trim panels & mods. :hungry:

you'll always have the Torsen! :)

I think looking at your limited as well as harpers is proof you can get the right look if done right. Those are 20" Ultra Wheel Gauntlets you have right? How are they offroad compared to say a 17"?

I'm not crazy about the body trim either. Here's how I see it. Soon we'll see a slew of front bumpers on the market. That's the hardest and most expensive part of the change. I'll get a new front bumper, then change out the bottom and back trim. Then add sliders with the TE trim above.

Gives me something to look forward to.

Swapping out the variants just to change out bottom trim is a little bit much.

I really wish I had the approach angles (f & r) of the TE and the higher side skirt. I wonder how the TE bumpers and skirts would look fully painted to match my already painted SR5 flares.

Thank you for your input - you all make very valid points and the more I think about it the more I know you are correct - I would give up a bunch on trade and would not be able to get back some of the major things I like about the Limited (ie auto climate control, push button start and smart key, leather - I could add that, etc)

I think i might look at trying to make a BP Trail slowly like Harper suggested??

Does anyone know of an online toyota parts supplier that has 2010 4Runner parts shown - when i had my 04 I bought from partznet but they do not have the 2010 list up.

i initially had plans to convert a limited blizzard to all black trim, including the headlights with TSX projectors, black roof rails, black door handles etc.. but then you know i just opted for the gx.

i still have these TE headlights brand new. no one interested? i will sell them to hoeftm if he agrees...

I bet Harper will sell you his Trail front end when he puts a new bumper on :)

i have no experience to compare between the rim diameters, i've only off-roaded on my 20s. there has been some discussion in other threads and forums about this, but mostly bashing owners with 20s who off-road which i don't fully understand.

Well I think your wheels look great and I'm thinking of something similar

Thanks, appreciate the compliment. Obviously tires make a huge difference when offroading and I believe mine will get the job done very well even if they are for 20s. I've contacted Nitto and they gave me recommended tire pressures when offroading in different conditions. I'll be offroading this Sunday with two buddies with trail team FJs that have 17s and I'll report what goes down.

If you're just riding around some trails 20" are fine. If you want to start rock crawling, you will figure out why side walls are nice things to have.

Set the limited up for Trail-Running:Harper has done all the research and taken all the risk, if you do the project yourself, with his guidance, you can get what you want.
