How difficult is it to replace rear tail light assembly?

We have had our 5th gen 2015 limited for about a year or so. Wifey backed into a small pole and cracked the drivers side tail light assembly. I can get the part for about 140 bucks. I just wondered how involved the replacement is. I have had an 08 4runner and have a 2013 taco trd txpro... i have done some items on those. I just haven't had a chance to get a great deal of attention to it as it happened while on way to airport for vaca... thanks everyone!

Correct... the casing is what has cracked... not an individual light... ive seen videos online for 3rd gen replacements bit nothing in the 4th and 5th gen

5 minute job. Pop the access panel inside, remove 2 nuts and wire connector, pull really, really hard on the light from outside. It clips into a bunch of clips so it takes a lot of force to remove.

I think all you need is a 10mm deep socket to remove the nuts. Just pull straight out and the clips will be fine. Level 0.5 degree of difficulty.

Don't drop the socket! I did that in my wife's RX - then got to pull the entire rear interior apart to get down to the floor pan to find the damn thing. A 10 minute job turned into a few hours.
