How do you acknowledge another 4Runner owner?

The friendly wave

My old man still to this day waves to other HOG riders, and growing up i never knew why. Then i asked, and his simple response was, "its a family thing son, one day you'll understand". Finally i did. I think that was around the same time that he tried to give me the "birds and bees" talk. If i remember correctly it went like this:

"do you know what this is", i said yes, he said"do you know how to use it", i said yes, then he said," have fun at camp".

Gotta love the awkward talks with the kids.

But back to the topic at hand. i always try to catch up, or slow down to other 4runner dudes

I'm confused . . . . plz explain. :D:D:naughty: :lmao:

Right before i went to sleep away camp, my father, (i am guessing under pressure from my mother), pulled out a condom and asked me if i knew what it was, then he asked me if i knew how to use it. And that was it.

Of course i said yes, cuz i have seen enough porno movies.

And that was the end of the "sex" talk from my father

Dooooh!! I was kidding, but thanks for the explanation. :D

My "reading between the lines" imagination was worse than the explanation. :bash: :runaway:

I always wanted to see another t4r.org sticker around...but i haven't seen one yet. i like giving thumbs up to 4runners with custom plate or any kind of mods i can catch on there ride. Other than that, i just examine the 4runner for a second. haha.

I usually point my pistol at them.

Just kidding! No, really I have not done much, I have owned other "cult" cars and it was a rave, but I think too many people that drive them have no idea what it would be about. I see cute girls driving them, my wife drives one as well, so, I dont really wave to other women for obvious reasons. I believe they would just think you are trying to hit on them in any event.

On motorcycles this was a big thing, I ride and R1, so fat Hog guys hate us, and so on and so on. It is cool to run into some people that naturally just love Toyota, I dont even care about just the 4runner, if they like Toyota as much as I do. I love all their cars, but I love the runner the best. Wish I could have a Tacoma for a toy tho...

I do look for the stickers, but have not seen any, and I spend a good bit of time on the highways throughout NY State and PA.

Waving to other 4Runner owners is like the Jeep wave (invented back in the 70's). Most people now ignore it (or don't have a clue it exists), but every time a Jeep (CJ or YJ) pass another Jeep the drivers will wave at one another (we used to ignore the plushier jeeps like WJ's, XJs, etc)

We gotta come up with something cooler than a wave... Afterall, this is a 4Runner, not a Jeep...

Anytime you smell a fart than 4Runner must be around.

In LA, my daily drive is the 101 Freeway for about an hour. I have not once in six months seen another T4R sticker, a 'friendly' 4Runner of any age, or had anyone acknowledge my friendly gestures.

I am also amazed at how many women drive 4Runners here. I would say that 80% of the 4Runners I see are driven by women.

My God!!!! Have I bought a womans car? :bash:

The only T4R stickers I have ever seen was on the SoCal meetup in Jan.:(

When I use to ride motorbikes a lot, we would always slide a foot of the peg and sort of shake the foot at the ankle while cruising and also thru the twisties.

In my Porsche group, we always use flashing lights to acknowledge each other.

I must admit a wave looks kinda....well.....errrr....soft. To pull it off (the wave) you need to sort of be cool, just a slight raise of the hand of the wheel.

:D

When I owned a SAAB 99 Turbo there were not that many SAABs around. We all blinked our high beams at each other, kind of a wink wink. Taht was in Pa and when I moved to CA the behavior continued. Just a thought.

I recently found out what saab standsfor

something an asshole buys. HEHE

No offense, i just thought that it was funny

around where i am, the oc, most 4runner owners own a 4runner either as a handmedown or because they wanted an SUV to say they have an SUV. unfortunately, almost all 4runners i see around here are soccer moms that hate minivans. i however, look at each and every 4runner because i am such a fan. i like to notice if they have mods or not, and to see they type of driver. if the driver looks like he drives the rig because he likes off roading, then i like to send a quick smile or nod, or even a thumbs up or wave. but if its a soccermom, then i just roll my eyes, and think, oh no, we've lost another one. :) and if i find one where its s complete newby driving, and is really excited to be driving a 4runner, i will switch lanes to be in front of them and use my rear windshield wiper and rub it in that i have a limited 4wd. :) i know, i really shouldnt, cause im a complete newby too, but i get some pretty cool reactions when i do that. haha...this one time, i read his lips and he said, whoa....cool!

How is using your rear wiper impressive?

Anyway, I usually do a slow flyby while giving a smile and wave. Surprisingly, most of the time I get a wave or smile back.

Around here? I don't have time to spend waving at soccer moms all day. ;):

I rarely wave unless it's somebody with some thing special about their truck.

only acknowledge 4R owners if they have anything special or unique touch to their truck. so far i haven't acknowledged any, except for my own truck.

I dont wave at other 4Runner owners, but I havent seen any that weren't stock around here either to acknowledge. When driving my Ram, it's not stock and it gets alot of looks, and I thumbs up or wave to other Rams that are modded or just plain look good.

Most times though, I wave and thumbs up old hot rods, Chargers, Camaros, Mustangs, old 40's fat fender cars, rat rods, wild customs, etc. You see a bit of everything running around here. I especially like the black Lamborghini Mercialago Roadster I see on my way home from work from time to time. MAN that thing is awesome!!!!

I wonder the same thing. I thought all 4Runners, IIRC starting back with the first gen all had rear wipers.

Anyhow, if I'm in a parking lot next to another one, I'll tell them about this site if they're not already a member and see if I've seen their truck in the gallery section. So far, I've only been able to recognize Mystic's 4R.

i use the rear windshield wiper as a "wave" i think its like my rig is waving instead of me. :)
