How dumb is this?

I got different 285s put on my 4runner but at the time did not get it aligned (~1.5 weeks ago). I am waiting for another 2 weeks because I will be getting it lifted and aligned at that point. In an attempt to save money I was just going to wait until the lift. How dumb/bad is that?

It depends, but you'll probably be ok, if the alignment was ok before you got the new tires and you don't drive a thousand miles a week.

If you drive a lot, it's pretty dumb.

If it's parked in a garage, then it isn't dumb.

I drive to work ~40 miles a day

Was your truck out of alignment to begin with? If not, no worries.

If it was wacked out and you installed new tires with no alignment, then you're going to increase your tire wear at a minimum.

It's no big deal. Whenever I replace tires I go ahead and have my wheels aligned to maximize tread life. However, if your wheels were already in alignment before your replacement, you'll be fine for the time being with minimal to no detriment.

I can honestly say I've done much dumber stuff. I would give it a 5/10 on the dumb scale. Maybe even a 4/10.

replacing tires hardly constitutes needing an alignment. Nothing was changed. as far as the truck knows, all you did was take the wheels off and put them back on..

If you are really concerned you could get a lifetime alignment from a place that offers one (firestone) then you can come back as often as you want for the life of the vehicle. They usually run $150, and pay for themselves quite fast.

285s on mine and no rub issues.

With the fender mod I usually have no issues. I rub against the mud flaps when the front suspension is compressed. It isn't bad and barely happens.
