How far do you guys transmit and receive with your cb radio? I just installed mind and I typically get out to a mile reliably. Farthest I've gotten someone is 3.5 miles and that was a base station. What setup do you guys use too?

Under ideal condition (flat land with no obstructions) probably 2.5 - 3 miles. On trails in the mountains once you loose sight of the other vehicle it is reduced a lot. It also depends on how your sqeulch is set. If it is to low it reduces the distance but if it is to high you sometimes pick up more interferance. Those handheld cb with stubby antenna do not reach out very far at all. It is all about the antenna. The better the antenna the farther it will reach and it must be tuned to your radio. I use a cobra cb with a K30 magnetic mount antenna.

I use a Cobra 25 LTD Classic with a K40 twist lock removeable antenna, on a K40 magnetic base. I can hear about 6 miles away on Interstate 70 or the Pa turnpike. The antenna is what really makes the radio perform.

we were able to get about 20-30 miles out in the desert with icom 2200s. (A lot farther if you hook up to a repeater, although illegal w/o a license).
