How long do you plan on keeping your T4R?

I just went through this dilemma after purchasing my 2012 SR5. I intend to keep the truck for many years unless Toyota comes out with something I just can't refuse in the 4Runner arena. :biggrin2: I just bought a 2004 Honda Accord with 95K miles on it for $5500 to use as a primary commuter vehicle for work. I can't really say it will save me a whole lot of money, but I figure it will save me $500 or so a year in gas and help keep the mileage off the SR5 and allow me to do some mods and get it the way I want it while limiting the unnecessary mileage. The deal just sort of fell in my lap so I jumped on it. I also figured that if I ever did sell my SR5 for some reason, the lower mileage sure couldn't hurt in the resale value. Everyone's situation is different I suppose. I still drive the T4R everywhere else except work as it's too fun to drive not too!!

After a year of driving my 2010 TE I just tired of the commute with a big truck and the lack of power when midly loaded. It is a nice truck but it needs a v8 badly. When the Tundra V8 engine is offered I will consider again someday.

Everyone has their own situation. I sold a 4th gen with 140k and E320 Bluetec (commuter) with 40k to the 5th gen. Found that having two cars was more a pain then it was worth - less dw/garage space, keep forgetting stuff in each vehicle that I needed, kept looking at weather especially in wintertime, etc, etc. I have one vehicle that does everything and I'm happy about that. My opinion (and that's all it is) is to drive your 5th gen into the ground then get something else when it's all said and done.

I'm planning on 300k, but honestly I'm driving my dream car right now.

My wife wants to go back to grad school so we will wait and get her a Sequoia or a GX 460 after that is over in Jan of 2015. That should pull a boat for us fine.

Keeping it forever 27,000 to this date. Bought my 99 3rd gen brand new and still running great with 120,000 miles.

20-30 years or until the frame rusts and its no longer safe to drive.

probably will swap to the diesel in the prado 150 down the road once the motor dies out.

My second gen is now 18 years old... being a diesel its just starting to run in !

And with some grand plans still, I will be keeping her for a few more years yet.

How long are you keeping your T4R

Even though Lexus is a great car, I would not buy a 2006 GS with 75,000 miles with it being 7 model years old. If and when you run into maintenance problems the cost of Lexus parts are very expensive and if it is something you have to get done at a Lexus dealership their hourly rate is much higher than a Toyota. I own a 2012 Lexus LS and previously had a 1998 and a 2010. My 2012 is an AWD and it requires 9.5 quarts of synthetic oil when changing. The standard LS is 7.5 quarts. The cost of 9.5 quarts of synthetic per refill is expensive in itself. Th 4Runner should last you many years with many miles on the odometer. I have a 4Runner also, because I wanted it, not because I needed a second vehicle.
