How long do your brake pads last?

Hi all,
I have a 2003 4Runner, 2WD, V8 that I bought new back in March 2003. I just rotated my tires again at 83k miles and I'm surprised that the original brake pads seem to still have lots of life left (see attached pics). I'm wondering how long do yours last as I have never had a car/truck that the brake pads last as this long as this 4Runner.

PS: My Michelin Cross Country tires had 45k miles on them and they are wearing evenly and also seem to have plenty of life left too.

I guess it depends upon how/where you drive. If you're mainly a highway driver and/or you're not too hard on your brakes, I could see the pads lasting a very long time.

I don't drive too aggressively (I usually anticipate stops ahead of time), but my 4Runner spends a majority of its time in stop-and-go traffic as opposed to highway driving. My pads look like they have at least half of their life left at 32,000 miles. Not too bad for someone who spends most of his time driving around town.

Yeah, but that's an apples and oranges comparison. The 4Runner's pads are probably thicker than a Camry's from the beginning. Plus, they might have softer pad material that tends to wear more quickly. I don't think your pad wear is unusual for a 4th gen 4Runner.

I finally changed my brake pads at 110,000 miles. I probably could have gone another year (25,000 miles) but I found a seized piston in the right front so I just did the complete brake job when I replaced the caliper. I don't know how long the piston was frozen but the pad hadn't worn unevenly. Rotors were also in good shape.

Obviously, I'm pretty easy on the brakes.

just replaced the original brake pads on my wifes '03 this past friday. 132,XXX miles.

I agree as far as your driving habits I also anticipate braking. That is why when I get to do my brake pads they are going to be oem.

I'm lucky to get 40K out of a set. But I'm aggressive as hell (you have to be around here)

with stock 17 limited rims year and half. with 20 inchs rims every year. more then 500 miles a week! for some weird reason the rear passenger caliper was stuck and pad was gone and piston was on the rotors. bill came out to $600 plus for used a rear passenger caliper and used resurfaced rear right rotor new pads all....... sad part leak lots of brake fluid on the rim,, drovve around with leaking brake fluid cause shop couldnt take out the rims cause a tire shop 20 miles away forgot to give me my rim wheel lock key. when your low on fluid the brake light appears on the 03 4runner.
