How low will a dealer go.

I'm looking for a base model 4runner (stripped down) except for roof rack (I'm not sure if that is standard - I definately want one). I would like to know what is the lowest price anybody has bought (excluding sales tax because it is different everywhere) including all doc fees, prep fees or anything else a dealer can add. I'm looking for the lowest out the door price on an '05 or '06.

I'm talking to a dealer in the Gulf Region, going through all the option combinations, but we haven't talked price yet. I'm planning on finding a V6 Sport coming into the port with close to what I need, then adding accessories at the port or the dealership. They won't give me squat for my trade-in (no where close to Blue Book), so I plan to offer invoice and then try with another dealer if they won't take it.

Also, it looks I'll be into the March incentives, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they are as good as February's.

Anyone else purchase recently? I'd love to hear about how close to invoice you were able to negotiate to.

To answer your question regarding the roof rack, my brochure is showing "black roof rails with black crossbars" as an option on the SR5 and standard on the Limited. A "tubular roof rack and tubular side steps with graphite painted finish" is standard on the Sport. If you are able to swing it, my opinion is that the Sport configuration is worth the $$ because of the X-REAS Sport Suspension.

Where you at? If you are halfway near chicago or DC, try www.carmax.com. Also so a search on www.autotrader.com for leftover 05's. I just got an '05 SR5 4x4 V6 for $3.6k under invoice at a small dealer in WI.

I lucked out because I bought my '04 in mid-Jan '05. They were willing to deal. I originally was looking for a base SR5, V6, 4x4, cloth, etc.

Selling price was $27,000.80 and it had sunroof, leather, roof rack, rear wind visor, double deck cargo, turn signal mirrors, sunroof wind deflector, molded dash applique and nightvision mirror upgrade.

Also, no point in getting the X-REAS if you're going to upgrade the suspension.

Ordered in Nov. '05. Delivered last weekend. $37.5k before TTL and $1500 rebate on a Limited V6, nav, side/curtain airbags, moonroof and spoiler.

I got my '06 SR5 V6 4Runner (with moonroof, roor rack, tow hitch, and tonneau cover) in January for about ~$1800 under invoice. My total price out the door was $26,275 after the $1000 rebate. :rocker:

'06 SR5 V6 for $200 over invoice.
Sunroof, tow package, leather wheel w/radio controls, roof rack, tonneau cover, 17" Al wheels, some other small stuff...invoce was 28,900, I paid 29,100.

Only fees paid were tax and $150 for reg because I was out of state, and a $40 doc prep fee.

Do not pay for floormats, or "Toyota Advertising fee", or "glass etching", "undercoating", or any of that other crap. It's all bogus fees. It took calls to 5 different dealers but eventually I got the price & color I wanted, and didn't get screwed.

Also, do not let them put dealer badges or stickers on your car, unless you feel you had such a wonderful experience you should let them advertise for free. I don't understand how dealers think they can just plaster this stuff on people's cars.
