How man 3G'S have functioning A/C?

Little over 200k on mine,AC works fine. I usually just drive with the windows down but it's been so damn humid and/or rainy lately.

I have a feeling that I'm going to end up going to the dealer when i go back for my inspection... as long as i'm moving the engine stays cool... pullover for 20 min and it starts to overheat.

Pulled over and running during those 20 minutes? Sounds like a bad cooling fan clutch,also check for debris impeding airflow to the radiator.

Mine DID work until recently..

I even had the LS400 compressor playing nicely.. but the compressor seized a couple of months back.

I think my swap to an electric fan without a shroud combined with the fact that we don't have condenser fans caused the pressure to run high and it to die..

I have a new one, but want to strip out and clean the entire system before I fit it.

I live in a family full of A/C addicts, they love riding in my car lol, but nobody wants to be the first one to turn it on though, they get the face full of dust that's built up lol.

That's funny. I remember that in my first car except it was just straight up dirt haha

341k on my '98 and it works better than the A/C in my 2016 4Runner Trail.

Bonus: 183k on my parts truck and even after a front end collision hard enough to blow the bags and bend the frame, the A/C still blew ice cold.

179K miles. Mine just blows warm air. It's been like that since I bought the truck. I've been thinking about just ripping the A/C system out, don't want to mess around with a leaky system.

To Tell you the truth I never was much for using it either... seems like i'm using it more though these days..Always been a window type of guy... guess i get that from Dad.

Uh yeah when you're a northerner in the summer. Try 108 in Houston with over 100% humidity. You'll leave those windows up and that A/C on!
That being said, we are actually taking the 4runner on a 500 mile road trip in a few weeks rather than the 2003 Rav4 that makes over 30MGP HWY because the A/C is so much better.

Slightly off topic, but I never understood in buildings why a bathroom has to either have a window or a vent or it's not a legal bathroom. I'm pretty sure that anywhere that considers itself 'south' needs a vent.
Opening the bathroom window to help let the humidity and heat out doesn't help much when the humidity level outside is higher that it is inside after a hot shower...ok rant over

I don't know about over 100% humidity... but I thought we had it bad up here (Arkansas) with upper 90's and 60%-70% humidity (heat index over 110 for a few weeks straight).

You know how cars drop water every now and then with the A/C running normally? Here it got so bad that it looked like cars were actually leaking streams of water as they drove. I had a puddle in my driveway that got so big after I parked that I was checking my coolant level because I thought there was no way that much condensate could drain from the system after being parked for 6 hours.

I bet it was much, much worse down by you.

Needs the air flow so mold/mildew doesn't build up. Mildew doesn't just form outside even if it is both hot and humid, but it would in a room with no ventilation.

That's my best guess anyway, lol.

Mine seems to have quite a bit of drain, but that's good. Means the drain is working.

97 limited. 230k miles. A/C has never been touched that I know of in the last 19 years, blows so cold that I have to turn it off/down after a few minutes.

206k miles and the AC is ICE cold. It does have a very slow leak somewhere so I have to put a can of freon in at the start of every summer. Big deal....

Initially, when I bought it it didn't blow cold air. Found the system was nearly empty. Purged system and re-filled. Has been ice cold since. Ohh....270k+

There really isnt too much to an AC system if needing repairs mostly the seals on the compressors go out. Some lessons learned.

Dont buy off brand remans for compressors

If you replace the compressor, replace accumulator. Its kinda the AC gallbladder.

Hmm.. well it seems that our AC systems are pretty rigorous, maybe I should invest in getting mine fixed rather than gutting it.
