How many inches wide is this dash piece?

I'm brainstorming potential in-dash LCD panels involving the removal of this piece of the dash. Don't have the vehicle yet though.
Could someone grab a ruler and tell me how many inches wide it is from end to end?
I'm guessing about 8.75" but if it's closer to 9.5" I'll be a happy guy.

It's 8 3/4" where the bevel stops just behind the face of the LED panel, but get's even smaller/tapers in as it goes back where the flat face of where the AC controls are, at that flat face it's 8 5/8".

Also just an FYI that LED panel is part of the entire AC control panel/curcuit board and even if it wasn't it would cause major issues trying to remove it as it's connected to many different components of the vehicle.

This. Every walkthrough I've found for disassembling the dash specifically warns against turning the ignition if that assembly is disconnected, because apparently it can and will cause an airbag code of some kind.

Not to mention you lose the display on which the temperature for the hvac system is displayed, and basic trip functions like avg mpg and DTE

I've turned the ignition on with that panel unplugged several times, it did absolutely nothing. I'm not sure where you heard that, I've never heard of it before?

Like anything when playing with electricity, it's always good to ensure the battery is unplugged or key is not in the ignition to prevent a short.

But I have played with it while keys are in and no issues. I was fixing my HVAC controls so I had no choice.

Now that I look, I cant find it. Maybe I dreamed it up, but I wouldve sworn I saw it here somewhere or on toyota120. I thought it was in the instructional thread I used to replace my stock headunit with a T1819

I have read that warning somewhere on this forum as well...BUT I have never read any concrete evidence or any Toyota documents as to why not to do so.
