How many original miles on your 3VZE?

238000 miles on mine, still going strong. Don't know if the PO's did any engine work.

Just bought a SUPER clean (In & Out) 95 3.0 V-6 with 325,000. The Craigslist ad said "Rebuilt engine", but had been sitting for months & had "Sluggish of the line problem". (Seller said probably dirty injectors - I agreed). Turns-out the "Rebuilt" was just a new timing chain 50k miles ago.

Best price advertised...."1st $1650 Takes It".

Knowing that well priced vehicles (having missed-out on several) sell in a day or two, I jumped on this truck. The engine & trans (auto) looked almost new - no leaks, & the cleanest from underneath - I mean no grime, leaks etc.

I've always had good luck buying used cars buy just checking the basics.....Smoking exhaust, sludge in valve cover, dip-stick, sound, temp, starting ease, driveability, etc. Truck drives rock-solid, but no power off the line, until 20 MP, then runs great.

B O T T O M L I N E, I finally did compression check......... Right bank all 175 lbs. Plugs burn stark white / Left bank all 75 lbs. Plugs all black. Not to mention the Cat Converter gets RED-HOT.

Jury still out on "Head Gasket" OR..... ????

the 3.0 never had a timing chain. it had a timing belt. bet your vehicle that the timing belt jumped. i would pull the covers and check.

It isn't mine, but my buddy has a 1988 black 3VZE with something like 266,000 or so on the original engine & 5 speed tranny. It is stock, though. 4WD still works, too.

i have a 95, blew the head gasket a few weeks after i had it, had it since Dec... not fixed yet... fml. anyways, i love it. yea, the engine isn't the greatest, but i love the feel of the truck, i'm not looking for horsepower or i'd buy a Mustang GT.lol. its fine for me. can't wait to get the damn thing fixed already... btw, mine has around 192,xxx when it blew the head gaskets.

just had my HG's done at 161k , original owner had them done in 97 @57k , now ive got a warped intake to replace and she will be on the road. got it from buddy getting stationed in England.
